I think this is my largest issue with a lot of newer romance, it feels like they just copy and paste the same sex scene in every book, there's no characterization or storytelling, it's like they just want to get it over with which imo is not the energy you want from a sex scene

on that take about skipping sex scenes: i’m of the belief that if a book has sex scenes that can be skipped without weakening your understanding of the characters and their relationship dynamic, that is a flaw within the writing itself
