GrapheneOS needs a partnership with OEMs to get them to improve their hardware, firmware and drivers to meet our security requirements. We need them to provide us with the firmware and drivers in a usable form for GrapheneOS with the updates we need instead of us depending on getting them from their less frequent OS releases. Otherwise, Pixels will remain the only devices meeting our requirements.
Your claims in the post above are objectively false. Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions haven't been part of the same company since 2011. We have a non-exclusive partnership with Motorola Mobility (Lenovo) and no form of partnership with Motorola Solutions. It would be a poor attempt at scaring people away from GrapheneOS regardless. Most people want us to support more hardware and will choose what they want from the supported devices.
We want to eventually have devices with better hardware security than Pixels rather than the drastically worse security we'd have with any alternatives today.
