The way many Nigerian public servants speak to the very people they’re meant to serve is still so military-regime coded. There’s this constant undertone of hostility, and “don’t question authority.” And honestly, you can trace a lot of it back to the family unit too. Many people are raised in environments where authority is rarely questioned, obedience is valued over dialogue, and respect is equated with fear. So that same dynamic just reproduces itself in schools, workplaces, institutions, and eventually governance.

Pattern Recognition: If someone tells you that several other people share their negative opinion of you, they are not offering helpful feedback. They are testing a fence. This tactic is known as phantom consensus. By invoking an invisible majority, the speaker is attempting to manufacture a sense of social isolation and trigger your survival instinct to avoid being ostracized from the group.

This is purely based on my own observation, but we desperately need more intellectuals in content creation. We need more thoughtful, knowledgeable voices willing to engage the public in meaningful conversations. I’m tired of a landscape dominated by the same recycled content. There is room for food, beauty, and entertainment, but there also needs to be space for ideas, learning, critical thinking, and substance. 😭😭😭😭😭
