BREAKING: Lords Vote to Scrap ‘Non-Crime Hate Incidents’. After years of police recording people for tweets and harmless comments, the House of Lords has voted to scrap the controversial system a major blow to speech policing in the United Kingdom.

They're preventing email enumeration attacks. If it said “Email not found” for bad addresses, attackers could script millions of guesses and map exactly which emails are registered on the site. By always replying “Reset link sent if the email exists” (even when it doesn’t), the app reveals zero info about valid users. No list of real accounts for phishing, brute-force, or spam. Standard security practice.

British blokes…. I’ve purchased several “tins” of Heinz (British) beans because the idea of beans on toast intrigues me. I eagerly anticipate a tasting. Other than toasting bread and heating beans… Are there any other steps/ingredients?

@mikekock Loads of commenters here (granted, overwhelmingly bots) are nodding heads like this is a wise way to do things, but this is exactly what my experience of forking this repo was. Kept finding “why the heck is there no change to stage” each time I introduced a new file.

Strangest thing I've ever seen. Just encountered a repo that ignores all files by default and treats gitignore as an opt-in system.

@SumitM_X That String has a uppercase case at the beginning (assume this is Java so probably ok). Also doubles will land you in trouble at some point along with paymentStatus not being an enum

You see this DTO: class OrderDTO { public String userName; public String userEmail; public String userAddress; public String productName; public double price; public String paymentStatus; } This DTO is returned by 10 different APIs. What long-term design problem do you see?

This morning suddenly found my postman in readonly mode, seems what I thought was just my own API calls was part of a team (which I didn't want to be part of) and now I'm locked out of everything which leaves me scrambling to find something to make API calls

The Labour government isn’t working: ▪️Unemployment in the UK rose to a five-year high in the three months to December 2025. ▪️The unemployment rate rose to 5.2% in the three months to December 2025. Unemployment was 4.4% when Labour took office July 2024. ▪️Youth unemployment in the UK has reached an 11-year high of 16.1% for 16-to-24-year-olds in the three months to December 2025. ▪️The number of people on payrolls dropped by 134,000 in the year to January. ▪️Almost 2 million people are now unemployed in the UK. This is what happens when a government hammers businesses with tax rises. Economic illiteracy has devastating employment consequences.

@darrengrimes No it is about reorganisation. Kent requested the same but were turned down. Many councils have previously and now again requested the same thing. It was never a cancellation it was a postponement, a thing that has happened before with out a peep of concern or objection.

Keir Starmer and his North London legalistic mob have finally blinked. After trying to disenfranchise 4.6 million voters to avoid a drubbing at the ballot box, the Prime Minister has performed yet another Olympic-grade U-turn thanks to Reform UK. They claimed it was about "reorganisation" and "costs." What a load of tripe. It was about one thing: fear. Fear of the working people of this country finally having their say on a government that treats them with utter contempt. They tried to cancel democracy because the polling looked sticky, but thanks to a backbone from Reform UK and a legal challenge they knew they’d lose, the May elections are back on AND they are having to pay Reform's legal costs. The mask has slipped. This isn’t a government of "service"; it’s a regime of self-preservation that only respects democracy when it’s forced to by a court order. We’ve stopped them from squatting in council chambers for seven years without a mandate. Now, let’s finish the job at the polling station.

Does anyone else think the Russian frog toxin tale is just to stop us talking about Mandelson and Epstein? As well as hoping to stoke us all up for the 2030 war they're all planning.

@johann_sath this is actually wild from a security perspective. self-preserving + memory restoration = basically impossible to contain if something goes wrong. like having an agent that can respawn itself after you think you killed it 💀

@mjovanovictech I was always told by old school HW geeks not to do this as sysadmins jokingly call it “RAID suicide” when someone buys 4 identical drives from the same batch. Tip is to source them from different vendors or at least different shipments so the batch numbers differ.

18 months to go? That is a fantastic position to be in. At 56, clearing the decks is absolutely the right play. You aren't just buying a house, you are buying total peace of mind for your 60s. Massive respect for the discipline to knock 5 years off the term. Enjoy that mortgage free party.

I could overpay my mortgage by £500 a month. It would feel safe. It would feel responsible. My bank manager would love me. But I don't do it. I put that £500 into my ISA instead. Here is the maths behind the decision. My mortgage interest is roughly 4.5%. Every £1 I overpay saves me 4.5p in interest. That is my return. The Nasdaq 100 $EQQQ and S&P 500 $VUSA have historically returned 10-12%. Every £1 I invest earns me roughly 10p-12p over the long term. By choosing the safe option and paying the debt, I am effectively losing 6-8% of potential growth every single year. Over 15 years, that difference isn't pennies. It is the difference between retiring at 50 and retiring at 60. Inflation erodes debt. Compound interest grows assets. I would rather hold a mortgage on a house I live in, than a mortgage on my time. I am not a robot though, I know that being debt free brings a peace of mind that a spreadsheet can't measure. So here is the deal I made with myself.... I will follow the maths while the mortgage balance is high and my timeline is long. When the balance gets low, really low, I will likely clear it. Not because it is the optimum financial move, because the mental satisfaction of owning the roof over my head 100% will be worth the lost percentage points. For now though I play the maths game.

One big thing missing from this. You referred to paying off the mortgage as the "safe" option. What happens after 5 years of this strategy of paying off your mortgage you lose your job. You have no savings because you've been paying off your mortgage. 5 years of putting £500 a month into your ISA making 8% a year gives you £37k in your ISA. That could give you at least 1 year to find a new job. While still being able to pay off your bills. To me locking away my money in a house that i need to spend a year trying to sell it to get the money out, is not the "safe" option. Having instant access to the money let's me sleep better at night than a half paid off mortgage.
