Risen Church

When we behold the work of Christ in the gospel, we are freed from both minimizing our sin and allowing our sin to crush us. We can see our sin for what it is and know that no matter how great, God’s mercy is greater still.

We must become fluent in the language of the gospel, constantly proclaiming the truth to our hearts in all circumstances.

Because Christ is our shepherd, we lack nothing. His provision for his sheep, both in what he gives and in what he withholds, is loving and perfect.

The favor of God on us in Christ is a shield against all of life’s evil. When the Creator Himself delights in you, everything else fades in comparison.

We want to plant churches because Jesus is the risen Lord of all creation and he is worthy to be worshiped by all!

The more your mind and heart are set on the next life, the more you will be able to press on in this one.

Jesus is a master counselor. He knows exactly what each person needs.

In a world full of cynicism, the people of God are meant to be known for their rejoicing and reasonableness.

“How am I being discipled?” is an important question, but we mustn’t forget to also ask ourselves, “How am I making disciples?”

In a distraction-filled world, it is all too easy to find ways to avoid our sorrow rather than to let it shape and form us like God intends.

Just as treasuring Jesus above all else will bring order to our lives, treasuring anything else more than him will bring chaos.

As our love for God empowers our love for our neighbors, our love of neighbor will in turn shape our love for God.

Your identity and ultimate reality are not defined by the earthly kingdom that you are a citizen of temporarily; they are defined by the heavenly kingdom that you are a citizen of eternally.

On June 19, 1865, Gen. Gordon Granger announced Order No. 3 to the state of Texas. This marked the end of institutionalized slavery in the United States, and the ideals of freedom and justice that our country was founded on were now officially recognized for all its citizens.
