things to keep in mind before you fly-in for @token2049. a cheat sheet: 1. stay/accommodation/basic commute > all options are expensive. go for group based bnbs or hostels if you’re on a budget. if not, go for hotels near an mrt station. > trustworthy options (by @PhilHedayatnia) ~ ascott group, lyf, alma house at new bahru. > do not pick hotel 81 and/or st signature, these are love hotel chains. > for any and call cab bookings, go for grab, ryde and anywheel (bikes). get a mrt pass. > carry good walking shoes. a lot of venues will be close, and the traffic during the token + f1 week is horrible. > prioritise proximity to cbd, chinatown, outram park, tanjong pagar areas. avoid sentosa. 2. meals/snacks/quick-bites > if you’re a vegetarian who’s on the move, 7-11s is a rescue chest. pick protein bars, shakes, mini-oreos and energy drinks. > the pancakes in fraser square, ramen bowls in bugis street and brunch cafes in robertson quay. easy rec. > try local food and cuisines (if you can), the flavours are too good to pass up. > little india will have various south and north indian meal options, dw if you’re missing some masala. > i want this point to remain a little hidden, but singapore has beautiful speakeasies. try 28 hong kong, horse’s mouth and secret mermaid. 3. events/conferences and meet-ups > don’t overload your calendar with random events for the sake of it. keep 2 per day, based on your personal goal. > the main conference will require time and effort out of your day if you’re going. allot a separate day to it. > lean a little towards filtered dinners, and more exclusive, smaller side-events. > meet new people. it’s a custom to hang around with your own tribe when you’re out, and it’s understandable, but get uncomfortable. > have some motive if you’re going to any event, even if the motive is to party. don’t mix work and leisure. 4. extras > make content, juice out your company campaigns and personal trips. we’ll have our core team or videographers/photographers on-ground (@jadeandcocrew) if you need any help. > hydrate yourself. • we have a larger list of pointers in a notion doc. comment “booboo” and i’ll send it to you.
