this is why you password protect ssh keys
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

Software horror: litellm PyPI supply chain attack. Simple `pip install litellm` was enough to exfiltrate SSH keys, AWS/GCP/Azure creds, Kubernetes configs, git credentials, env vars (all your API keys), shell history, crypto wallets, SSL private keys, CI/CD secrets, database passwords. LiteLLM itself has 97 million downloads per month which is already terrible, but much worse, the contagion spreads to any project that depends on litellm. For example, if you did `pip install dspy` (which depended on litellm>=1.64.0), you'd also be pwnd. Same for any other large project that depended on litellm. Afaict the poisoned version was up for only less than ~1 hour. The attack had a bug which led to its discovery - Callum McMahon was using an MCP plugin inside Cursor that pulled in litellm as a transitive dependency. When litellm 1.82.8 installed, their machine ran out of RAM and crashed. So if the attacker didn't vibe code this attack it could have been undetected for many days or weeks. Supply chain attacks like this are basically the scariest thing imaginable in modern software. Every time you install any depedency you could be pulling in a poisoned package anywhere deep inside its entire depedency tree. This is especially risky with large projects that might have lots and lots of dependencies. The credentials that do get stolen in each attack can then be used to take over more accounts and compromise more packages. Classical software engineering would have you believe that dependencies are good (we're building pyramids from bricks), but imo this has to be re-evaluated, and it's why I've been so growingly averse to them, preferring to use LLMs to "yoink" functionality when it's simple enough and possible.

I just asked myself the most important question I’ve ever asked. What if, god forbid, I had cancer right now? How would I save my life and would I be able to do it without Precigenetics? The answer made me cry. Here’s EXACTLY how I would save my own life TODAY. 🧵

The S&P Dow Jones has partnered with @tradexyz to launch the first official S&P500 perp on Hyperliquid. A HIP-3 deployer working with third parties for an oracle is one thing but partnering with the world's leading index provider is a whole other level. Hyperliquid

@toobaffled This post is false and highly misleading. Australia started massive HPV vaccination decades ago and no bad side effects were observed (millions of vaccines)! The alternative is to die of cervical cancer.

“If you have a daughter approaching the age of 12-14, she will soon be adamantly encouraged, by the attending nurse at her school, and by your very own family doctor, when you are out of the office, to receive the Gardasil HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine, behind your back. (I told Serahn to call me from school and run out of the gates so I could pick her up. No way that we were allowing this into her).. Inexplicably, this dangerous vaccine contains L-histidine, an essential amino acid, which plays a vital role in pregnancy; the synthetic form of which can also pass through the placental wall to the fetus. This could be the direct cause to the spontaneous miscarriage and birth defects in some of the babies. Whenever a vital, naturally occurring substance such as L-histidine is injected into the body subcutaneously or intramuscularly (alongside heavy metals, live/attenuated viruses, detergents & antibiotic excipients etc), a counter effect inevitably occurs where-in the immune system cannot differentiate between the naturally occurring amino acid in the body from that present in the vaccine; registering all these intruders as a common enemy of toxic debris. The immune system instinctively kicks into overdrive, alerting any available antibodies throughout the body to identify & eliminate deposits of L-histidine it encounters in its path. The end result, in each case, we’re seeing the antithesis of nature’s course develop, as the body, stripped of one or more primary components, is now, in essence, at war with itself. What follows is cascade of unfortunate auto-immune reactions; neurological & neuro-developmental breakdown. “I am here today because my daughter was harmed by the Gardasil vaccine. My daughter was actually sterilized by the vaccine. I am begging you, do not expand this vaccine until there are answers to the problems that have already arisen. How many children will have to die because this vaccine was a mistake of crazy proportion? How many will be sterilized?” Gardasil victim’s mother ‘HPV Gardasil Vaccine Killed Our Daughter: This is our daughter Jessica Ericzon, one day we came home from work and found her dead on the bathroom floor. An honor student, an all star athlete, never a medical condition in her life. When the coroner called and said her heart just stopped, she was dead before she hit the floor and he couldn’t tell why, we just couldn’t believe it.‘ The 3 doses required to complete the HPV vaccination regime are so intense, nurses administering the injections are advised to ask patients to lay down during the procedure. In many instances girls have fainted on the spot or gone into sudden seizures. Think twice. The Gardasil Vaccine is completely unnecessary, and extraordinarily hazardous to her health.” R E P O S T E D Vaccine Resistance Movement vaccineresistancemovement.org/?p=7579

I’ve been seeing a ton of PFOF FUD surrounding @Lighter_xyz recently. It’s honestly funny to see how many people still don't grasp the fee mechanics of @vnovakovski . Critics argue: "0 Fees are meaningless because you pay for it in Slippage." Let's test that logic. If we add fees to a standard exchange then slippage magically disappear? No. The equation is: Total Cost = Slippage + Fee We need to get the raw execution cost and subtract the fee to compare "Pure Slippage." If Lighter’s pure slippage is comparable to others, then: $(Slippage + 0) < (Slippage + Fee)$ If the total expense is lower, the FUD collapses. Reasoning Why Slippage Can Be Tighter for 0 fee exchange. 1. Low/Zero fees attract Retail Takers. 2. Higher ratio of Retail (uninformed) flow = Higher profitability for Market Makers (MMs). 3. Higher MM profit = More competition. 4. Result: MMs tighten spreads to capture that flow. The Counter-Argument for “Taker Latency is tax of 0 fee.” Some fudders say ”Why is there Taker Latency? It feels unfair“ It’s not because it's a perp dex. it’s because it’s a Lagger Market. Binance is the price leader. When Binance moves, Lagger liquidity becomes a sitting duck for arbitrage. If cancel execution matches as same speed of taker, the taker has a 50% probability of successfully executing the toxic arbitrage. Even Hyperliquid has taker latency to prevent this loss. As Jeff’s words, this is a mechanism to protect “retails and makers” from toxic order flow. In other words, Lighter’s latency mechanism essentially uses the exact same logic as @HyperliquidX the L1 you all seem to love so much. But Bybit or mature CEX don't have taker latency? Mature markets have diverse participants (HFT, MFT, LFT) pursuing different alphas. In mature markets, there are liquidity providers beyond HFTs who care less about millisecond toxicity. In a growing Lagger market, HFT makers need protection from toxic flow to quote tight spreads. That’s just my take. But to quote Jeff: “Because most other venues are not optimized for the end user.” Taker Latency is the way to protect liquidity and real user, not a scam. No matter how much I explain, the only thing that will convince the fools is actual cost data. Give me a reason to run this test instead of making money with my bot. 320 Likes on this post and I’ll share the test results. x.com/chameleon_jeff…

after a couple more disastrous perp dex TGEs the hyperliquid doom-dunking will abate it's virtually pointless to compare against any pre-TGE protocol far too much noise from perp dex communities self high-fiving when the dust settles we will have a much clearer picture and be able to reasonably compare / contrast the pressure is intense but i hope the hl team resists the urge to make any significant changes until then have a great december everyone

There is a substantial gap in the 'smaller' end of town for quasi retail. If u can make 15m with 15 sharpe you're probably better off doing it yourself rather than giving away the majority. Though if the constraint is access to insto facilities or capital, my dm's are open :)
Gappy (Giuseppe Paleologo)@__paleologo

One other point (raised by someone in thread): capacity (and the costs needed to achieve it) matters. I went on record, and I'll say it again: it does not matter to a HF if you can make $15M/yr with a SR=15; let alone if you are a successful retail trader. Disputing this statement separates the men from the boys.

@risk_generator @TaiwanQuant @OBS_orderflow Definitely want to include that! Some other ideas: - no clear on match - taker rebates - more precision (0.01) - bank of retail flow that randomly places trades (rate correlated to spread) - possibly a funding rate (maybe like in the middle of 5 & 2.5 @ end of round 👀)
