@mussler @v3rd1ct @VFEmail I understand the "-R as SSH port forwarding" part, but still cannot figure out how authentication was successful. SSH is widely used and acknowledged as secure protocol by default. Was it sshd or firewall misconfiguration?

@v3rd1ct @ritmasas @VFEmail -R is remote SSH port forwarding. Attacker used SSH to connect from VFE's system to 94x, a system used by the attacker. On 94x(!), port 30081 was opened and made to forward to port 22 on VFE's system. The attacker on 94x could now use local port 30081 to connect to VFE's SSH.

1. Start a FaceTime video call. 2. While it's still ringing, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and click "Add Person." 3. Add your own phone number to the call. You'll now be able to hear the microphone from the other device, even if the owner is nowhere nearby.
