🍌☎️⏰ Should @MocaverseNFT and @HorizenLabs decrease their voting blocks? This is a question I have asked myself for a while and I have approached leaders at each to do just that. Truth is the DAO became an arms race when @machibigbrother bought up 7 million + ApeCoin and tried to dominate the voting of the DAO. What happened as a result of that? Both Moca and Horizen increased their voting blocks to better balance the DAO, increase their influence and decrease the power of one individual, is how I see it. But now they are the big guns and the DAO is out of balance. I am asking them to voluntarily decrease their voting wallets given current DAO dynamics and to bring more parity to voting. Will they decrease it? I don’t know. Given my current AIP idea to change any AIP requesting over 1 million $ape to require a supermajority of 75% to pass, I am thinking a lot about how to solve some of the DAO voting issues we see. Truth is, there are no perfect answers, but we can attempt to improve. I am seeing valid arguments both for and against this change. One of the very valid counter arguments is that if the threshold is too high, we would allow one voter to kill any idea that is supported by close to 75% of the rest of the vote. That should not be the case. The community needs a bigger voice. There should never be a situation where one voter can decide an “against” and going against all other voters of the DAO, and there should never be a case where 2 voting blocks can push through their own agenda and against the will of the people. This seems to be the quagmire we are in. The easiest solution at the moment would be for a decrease in voting power to 3 million each, which while a large number, is more tenable than the current situation. I strongly believe we would have much better turnout if individuals or smaller delegates felt like their votes made a difference. We have to find a balance. Regardless of how this turns out, I am not giving up on finding ways to increase voter balance in our DAO. This has to happen. We can’t have large entities continue to hand pick who they want on SC and other positions. We can’t have a couple large entities force spending when we don’t want it. If you have $ape coin, are you voting? If you don’t want to vote, please find a good delegate. It is obvious to me that the overall community wants to see the DAO succeed but is frustrated with current voting dynamics. Make your voices heard. Be involved in the voting process. Elections are a few weeks away and the DAO needs you. Regardless how this goes, we’ve got other solutions on the way. I love this community and I love this DAO. Together we can continue to make it better. One step at a time.
