An estimated avg annual discharge of Saraswati river was of an order of 1000 m3/s and channel belt width of ~3.5 km at Suratgarh, downstream of postulated confluence of the Sutlej & Yamuna. No wonder Saraswati was lauded as 'limitless, unbroken, swiftly moving, mother of floods'.

Shocking state of flood mngmnt affairs in national capital. 5 gates of ITO barrage in middle of Delhi & strangely being 'maintained' by Irrigation Dept, Haryana; wr accidently found closed amid unusual flood spell in Yamuna & no govt dept, even CWC knew or did anything about it.
