@TealeFredrica OK. Annoyingly, my scanner is refusing to co-operate this morning, but I have taken a set of photos. Legible, at any rate. How best to send them to you?

Does anyone have access to Thirteenth Century England XVI they could possibly share with me?

@MedievalFemina Thank you Louise, Adrian, and the Lincoln volunteers, for your hard work in organising the conference, and making sure that it all happened on time and in good order. Well done, and I hope you’re having a well-deserved rest.

After 26 talks by 27 speakers from across the UK and Australia, and a wonderful trip to our Guildhall to view our 13thC Royal Charters, the 21st Thirteenth Century Conference is a wrap. A massive thanks to all who came and safe travels home.

@DrFrancisYoung I thought "oh!" was an exclamation of surprise, and "o" was a formal and dramatic way to address someone. The difference between "oh! It's raining!" and "O great and mighty ruler".

It occurs to me that the ‘o’ spelling of the English word ‘oh’ is today found almost exclusively in translations of Classical poetry, where for some reason it is still acceptable

@StephanieLahey Candied peel, I think. The peel of oranges and lemons, preserved in sugar. Now usually bought already cut up into little bits for adding to cakes etc, but I remember my mother using large pieces like those, the peel of half an orange, which she would cut up herself.

Delighted to say that I defended my PhD thesis today. Thanks to my examiners, Daniel Power and Peter Crooks, for their engagement and encouragement, and my supervisor Seán Duffy for all of his help! Excited for the next chapter. @TCDHistHum @HistoryTcd @ihr_history @RoyalHistSoc

@jmarshallmed Interesting stuff, which made me think again about a familiar tale. A good listen for a rainy afternoon.

@medievaljews I have calendared or at least made spreadsheets of several of the receipt rolls from the 1250s and 1260s. Give me a shout if that might save you some effort.

It’s all fun and games until somebody orders up the main receipt rolls… As it turns out, there’s rather a lot of material of relevance to the Jews above+beyond that in the Jewish receipt rolls. The downside of this is that I’m going to have to go through the 13th cent rolls…

Thanks to the Pipe Roll Society for inviting me to deliver their annual lecture at The National Archives yesterday, and particularly to @pablodiablo74 for setting up the display of documents.

About this time next week, if you happen to be at The National Archives, you could drop in to the Pipe Roll Society annual lecture, about pipe rolls, oddly enough: eventbrite.co.uk/e/pipe-rolls-p…
