To those who follow me on Twitter I advise, effective immediately I am closing my account. I am appalled and ashamed the cesspit this arm of social media has become. A platform for vulgar disrespectful unAustralians hiding behind false identities. I will not be a part of it.

@J_Walter23 @PeterLawrence18 There is one collective who are to blame. That collective is the race clubs who voted to privatise the tote. Inconceivably they handed over a cash cow. Alas the horse has bolted.

@PeterLawrence18 To be fair. They have legally been allowed to write their own rules and discriminate against clients. Its not really them who have destroyed the game. Its the regulators who threw them the keys and watched it all happen.

How repulsive is it, to be subjected to ads by the corporates, incl TAB, pretending to be great Aussie racing lovers, and using racing terminology to promote their products and business model? The same psychopathic parasites that have laid to waste a great Australian tradition.

@PeterDutton_MP Peter, Why in this country has there not been established a national disaster fund which would cover losses incurred by those suffering loss; which would reimburse volunteers and rebuild infrastructure. A simple levy could fund it and ensure everyone contributed. Not too hard ?

Thank you so much to those who have already donated to help those Australians so devastated by the bushfires. Here is the link to the Red Cross Appeal - please donate if you can. redcross.org.au/campaigns/disa…

I’m getting off Twitter for a while. People have lost their lives, livelihoods & homes. But on here it’s become a political blame game. I was in an evac centre for 36 hours. There was not one word about politics. We just wanted to stay alive. #AustraliaOnFire #NSWfires

Re Bushfires: very disconcerting to see both on Twitter and Facebook the number of people and organisations suggesting where one can donate to the “Bushfire Appeals. Given history suggests not all money collected ends up where it should the Fed Gov’t should co.ordinate this.

We’ve just boarded the @Australian_Navy’s HMAS Choules with passengers being evacuated from Mallacoota. They’re filled with so many emotions right now – devastation about the last few days, but also so grateful for the mammoth mission to get them home. @9NewsAUS @9NewsMelb
