Just voted my Tesla shares in line with management and the Board. You may need to vote a couple of times or more depending on where you keep $TSLA shares in your accounts. Note that there is a proposal for annual elections of the Board — I have found that shareholders overwhelmingly prefer annual elections, so the Board might lose that one. @elonmusk’s comp plan and the equity incentive plan are more important areas to focus on, which the company did.

Over the summer, I uninstalled the X app from my phone and started diverting more of my time to the Hallow app instead. These two apps are very different — and while they are not in competition with each other, my use of each reflects a battle within for where I put my focus. Where do I gaze in those moments when I am not working or mothering? The more I directed my gaze in a heavenly direction, the quieter I became. Not only on here, but everywhere. I don’t think I am better than anyone else for this. Indeed, I know I am not. Which is why I have been so quiet. After seeing that Charlie Kirk was shot, I re-installed X on September 10 to follow events. I accidentally saw the horrifying close-up video, and I am glad I saw it. Because evil often hides. With the assassination, X was able to shine a light on evil and all its gore. Spilled innocent blood provides moral clarity. Since then, I have felt incredibly sad. Not only about Charlie’s killing, but also about the inability of some people to see or acknowledge that murder is wrong. Naively, I thought that the same people who lament other types of killings — such as someone dying in police custody — would also lament a political assassination. But, no. We walk among ordinary people whose hearts are filled with murderous hatred toward their human brothers and sisters. Real knows real. And good knows good. And anyone with good in them, who strives for intellectual honesty, can see that Charlie Kirk, as a non-violent human being, as a husband and father of two who strived to uplift others in virtue, did not deserve what happened to him. To claim otherwise is disgusting and ugly and reflects very poorly upon the claimant’s character. I am realizing that I do not want people in my life who claim to care about me, but would celebrate the death of an innocent man. I imagine that people all over the country are having realizations like this. Where do we, as people, go from here? Far be it from me to tell anyone how to live their life. It’s not my place. I’m not an evangelist. I’m just a wife, and a mom, and I have a following on here because I happen to know a bunch about capital markets and stocks. My only encouragement is to keep working on your own heart. If you felt schadenfreude over the death of a good man, this is not something to celebrate over while seeking schadenfreudal camaraderie with others. You need to self-correct, immediately. Scrub your heart! You need to feed your soul with good and holy things. Nobody is immune from this need, I’m sorry to tell you. I wish there was an easier way. Strive, strive, strive to be good. We all have our work cut out for us in this — so much so that there should be not much room left to judge others. Shine a light in the darkness, and let the rats scurry.

@AndreaSJames Spot on, and in my opinion true for the leaders themselves not just their teams.

Pondering something about organizational psychology that I’d like to share. This pondering was inspired by reading 600-page Disney War, by James B. Stewart, as well as advising people within companies of different sizes. At organizations at first, especially when they are small or in the midst of a turnaround, everyone is running brain cycles on their actual function and the business. Everyone together solving one problem after another. Let’s call those “A cycles.” And after a while, it becomes clear that people have to run additional brain cycles on politics and people, because the penalty for not running cycles on those things became too great. Let’s call those “B cycles.” I think most talented people very much enjoying running A cycles without having to run too many B cycles. And as a leader, it’s your job to help everyone run A cycles and keep B cycles to a minimum. [A cycles = looking at problems and trying to solve them with high intellectual honesty and integrity. B cycles = gossip, speculation on motives, teaming up to game the 360 review process, undermining others, having to think too hard about whether an idea can be voiced based on who present is allied with whom, managing egos and doing things to curry favor and power, wasting money on ego projects, and more.] Inevitably, it only takes one or two people who don't see themselves as part of a team, but see themselves as playing Survivor, to change an entire dynamic. This can destroy whole teams and cultures. Spending too much time on B cycles is usually a luxury of a business that’s running well. If you were once scrappy and small but are now large and successful, you should be aware of this dynamic and as a leader, guard against it. In sum: A > B. Green light, go geeks, go. A = B. Caution. Leadership needs to be aware of it and put an end to it. If leadership is driving it, everyone else needs to either play along or start planning their exit. B > A. People who just want to do great work and have options will leave. Those who don’t will be unhappy but unable to put their finger on what exactly makes them unhappy. The remaining satisfied people will be those who think that is just what work is — collecting paychecks whilst playing games.
