At the beginning of the migrant arrivals sent to Chicago by Governor Abbott from Texas, many of us stepped up to help. Our company donated more than 20,000 meals, contributed thousands of dollars and dedicated thousands of hours of public service to support those in need.
However, while so many people worked to help, the City has ignored the exploitation of children by parents or individuals claiming to be their parents. Across Chicago, children are being used to sell flowers and candy, beg for money, and remain on sidewalks late into the night—sometimes until 3, 4, or 5 a.m.—while blocking doorways, entrances, and exits.
This is unacceptable. No child should be subjected to these conditions. Compassion and accountability must go hand in hand. We can support families in need while also protecting children from exploitation and ensuring public spaces remain safe and accessible for everyone.
Chicago has failed to adequately address this issue, and it is time for leaders to take action

Almost all critical neurological development happens before age four. Vaccines are far safer when given later in life and metered out individually — not in large combination batches. Risk stratification matters: a child born without a spleen needs certain vaccines immediately. A perfectly healthy child in normal circumstances does not face the same calculus. That's not an anti-vaccine position. That's medicine applied to the individual in front of you.
