Walking among ancient giants in Mapleton Falls National Park Blackall Range. A major Queensland timber hub from 1860s-1939. Prized for "red gold" (red cedar, white beech, & tallowwood) Mapleton Falls National Park was established in 1973 & originated as a scenic reserve in 1938

A new little park for us to wander through. Last time we wanted to walk here it was under water so we didn’t get further than a few meters. This morning we thought we’d chance it again. Glad we did!

View of the week. Besties lunch venue. So special to catch up for a couple of days. Non stop 🗣️ 🗣️ Greatest therapy.

Real chatterboxes, rainbow lorikeets. They’ve certainly been splashed with nature’s vibrant paint although these ones are in the shade & it’s not so noticeable. When they fly overhead their wings are such a vivid emerald green. These ones were quite happy for me to video them.

Little corellas feeding on a lawn. They’re such funny birds. We often hear them when they fly over us with their plaintive cries. It sounds a bit like a croaky distressed cry for help to me. 😂

Anyone for a picnic next to the bay? It’ll be a while before there will be shade though. There used to be trees before a storm took them out. The tide was working its way in slowly. The water was so still this morning.

Summer evenings and balmy weather. Dinner sorted - light meals and salads. Can’t go wrong with these!

When a shadow on a tree trunk (seen from about 50 meters) looks like a lizard - and when you get closer - oh, wait, it is one! Well camouflaged. #wildlife #australia

Kite surfers and windsurfers whizzing over the water today. It’s windy out there!

Cooler weather swept in over SE Queensland this weekend. Went over to the island for a walk even though it was quite windy. Glasshouse Mountains only just visible but still looking cool 😎
