Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command. It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards. Automated snapshots were gone too. In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again. This is absolutely terrible - Standard Time is the correct one DST steals morning sunlight (this is what matters biologically) from people who work in exchange for some extra sunlight through the bar windows after work

@Rob1Ham It isn’t. This was tried before in the 1970s, and DST being out of sync with solar noon is not good, and resulted in dead children (see @SaveStandard). Maybe it will be fine this time, given the changes in society due to tech &c. 🤷‍♂️ Standard time would have been better though.

I will die on the hill that this is the incorrect fix to the DST problem. The real solution is adopting a global UTC standard. This is objectively correct.

Actually - would be an interesting question for @zackbshapiro as a lawyer who has had a lot of success using LLMs for his job. I've found in general that the latest OpenAI model is better at just grinding away at large ambitious projects, and being way more finer detail oriented for software tasks, whereas Claude is better at architecting / project managing.
