@rob_leeman @caschat_uk @sneekylinux A5: #caschat Absolutely as @rob_leeman says. Devoting some time especially in #PrimaryComputing to really delve into encouraging thinking about how the hardware works. The Y3 classes I taught emulated a keyboard last week and realised how quickly a keyboard functions.

@chris_swan @caschat_uk @sneekylinux A3 - all good thanks, hope you are too, physical computing can be a steep(ish) learning curve but the rewards outweigh the effort in terms of engagement, check this out youtube.com/watch?v=2BgwHE… #caschat

Q3. What are your go to resources to support the teaching of physical computing?
#CASChat

English

@caschat_uk A5 - it helps to see the electronics as just part of the process, gathering and sampling data that can be dealt with computationally with a real world output. This helps drawing together the various STEM elements involved in psychical computing #caschat

@caschat_uk @sneekylinux A5 - by teaching CS using physical computing, m;bits, pis, Arduinos, it's all good. Make CS into a problem solving exercise looking at Input, Process, Output through an IoT lens, so much potential for engaging lessons #caschat

Q5. Electronics are key to all of our daily lives in all of the devices we use. How can greater knowledge of electronics be incorporated into teaching?

@caschat_uk A4 - I did a 3D project with a class a few years ago but it takes sooooo long to print a class set of anything it made it hard to keep them engaged and took way too much time #caschat

A2: #caschat And this is why I ♥️ social media. For the camaraderie and ideas. Thank you so much @rcoultart @sneekylinux and @amylouwelsh for sharing these fantastic ideas. I'm going to try to come along to learn more about @tinkercad
Rachael Coultart@rcoultart
I'm hoping to get a better handle on it after attending the brilliant @amylouwelsh 's CAS meeting at the end of the month community.computingatschool.org.uk/events/9059 #caschat

@pknighton67 @caschat_uk @sneekylinux I have a set of 9 Arduino IoT projects coming out in a couple weeks, with a little sprinkling of ML as well! Check them out on arm.com/resources/educ… #caschat

@caschat_uk @sneekylinux Perfect timing as my new course on Physical Computing has just launched on EdX, its free with a paid for certification route. Its actually 4 courses in a programme, check it out: edx.org/professional-c… #caschat #physicalcomputing

@caschat_uk @sneekylinux Q2 the lockdown has meant I have done loads of online sessions on physical computing on micro:bit in UK and US with colleagues #caschat #csta loads of fun projects here arm.com/resources/educ…

@pknighton67 @caschat_uk @sneekylinux I've used piezo with codebugs and microbits and also some of the activities connecting to an audio jack. Oooh and @barecinductive touch board to create an audio map of school #caschat

@pknighton67 @caschat_uk @sneekylinux When I was teaching I used music to show the effects of compression, do it live and show how it changes the music. Makes it very real. #caschat

Welcome to #caschat. Please introduce yourself and answer the following question:
"If you were a musical instrument, what would you be and why?"

English

@caschat_uk @sneekylinux I would be a compressor head drummer (youtube.com/watch?v=3RBSkq…) #caschat
