The City of Johannesburg is ramping up high-impact service delivery efforts across Region C, with work currently underway at the intersection of South African Road and Central African Road. Our teams from the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) are on-site, working to repair and restore vital road infrastructure to improve safety and ensure smoother mobility for residents. However, fixing the roads is only part of the puzzle. The more pressing issue remains the relentless flow of greywater and sewage spreading unchecked across the roads. This not only stalls the progress made by JRA but also poses serious health risks and causes damage to the infrastructure. To tackle this effectively, we are adopting a coordinated, multi-departmental approach that targets the root causes of these spillages. This includes strengthening wastewater management, enforcing compliance, and making sure all responsible parties are held accountable.

Cinematic, creative, top tier… this is not campaigning anymore, this is a full Netflix production 😭🔥 Not even Donald Trump with all his budget and drama is doing this level of content… And can we talk about the ENERGY?? This is someone in her 70s moving like she’s 25 on campaign mode non-stop… meanwhile some of these younger politicians can’t even run a proper press conference without looking tired 😅 Honestly… who is behind this campaign team?? Because they deserve a raise, a bonus and maybe a DSTV award while we’re at it 😭👏

The way the DA is campaigning makes me feel so uncomfortable.
In 'white areas' (despise the term), there's a certain gravitas in the way they conduct their electioneering. There is town hall type of meetings, speeches and explaining their policies etc..
In 'Black areas', they go to shisanyamas et al, dance and toto toyi looking absolutely ridiculous.
They play into these racist and anti Black stereotypes and they don't even see how utterly out of touch they look

Helen Zille Is Missing the Point — And South Africans Know It
South Africans don’t switch off their conscience when issues are “far away.”
Responding to Helen Zille, Ml Sulaimaan Ravat argues that the DA’s and Zille’s position — focus locally, avoid division, and wait for legal processes — doesn’t hold.
Firstly, South Africa is a product of international solidarity — sanctions and global pressure helped end apartheid.
Secondly, moral positions don’t require court rulings. The DA has condemned countries like Russia and Iran without waiting.
Thirdly, this goes beyond terminology. The concern is the DA’s reluctance to hold Israel accountable as the occupying power, often creating a false equivalence between Israelis and Palestinians.
Fourthly, this is not a religious divide. Jews, Christians, and people of no faith have all been vocal in their criticism of Israel.
Finally, South Africans judge both governance and values. Service delivery matters — but so does moral clarity.
That’s why this issue continues to follow the DA.

Johannesburg mayoral hopeful Helen Zille faced harsh criticism on Wednesday night when a pro-Palestine supporter confronted her, labelling the DA a racist organisation. Zille, however, dealt with the confrontation, saying that robust discussion was vital. The fracas happened after Zille addressed Ward 66 residents as part of her campaign tour at the Kensington Club. When News24 arrived at the club, pro-Palestine supporters from the Kensington Palestine Solidarity Group were protesting the meeting. Despite interruptions, Zille defended her focus on South Africa’s challenges, emphasising the country’s unique project of uniting diverse groups and fostering coexistence.
