@robber_yu @wonderparlour You are probably right, at least when I went to an anime expo in Japan, they said maids in anime were inspired by Victorian nobels and their aesthetics. In the same expo they were saying anime human shape was inspired by ceramic french dolls so probably got mixed up in my mind

In my British mind, I think of "true" maids as Victorian maids, and when I hear the "Victorian" part, I automatically think of the UK, that's how my brain works, I guess.
