In this era “illegal” is usually a solvable problem. One could also potentially replace some chemicals with others and get the same results - hire a chemist they’re cheaper than software enginners. Maybe it’s better if you can’t do Kodachrome. Maybe those limitations spur you to create something new.

Kodachrome is one of those remarkable things from the past that we completely lost and will never have again. Impossible to process now. It was an insane filmstock, required a crazy elaborate Kodak proprietary process to develop. Once Kodak stopped developing, it was dead forever
