NEW: Pope Leo XIV has named Salvadoran immigrant Evelio Menijar-Ayala to be West Virginia’s lone Catholic bishop. As a teenager, he made three attempts to enter the United States illegally. He finally arrived in California in 1990, having been smuggled in the trunk of a car with his brother over the border crossing between Tijuana and San Diego. Over the next several years, Menjivar-Ayala worked janitorial and construction jobs in California before deciding to become a priest. It’s a remarkable choice in a state that is over 90% white and voted for President Trump by 42 points.

I read to kindergarteners every Friday at a local elementary school (yay, Read Aloud West Virginia!), and today I got to give them all books to take home! It was fun.

There is an art to managing people, particular colleagues. A co-worker today started to explain her thought process on an upcoming event, and wound up asking me to do something all in a neat package. She got me interested and by the time she was finished, I was ready to help.

Everyone I go shopping, I expect to see @BradMcElhinny chasing down a corrupt landlord at my grocery store. Maybe one day!

It’s interesting to go from 4 carriers in the Pacific to the huge number in 1944 and ultimate air and sea domination.

Reading Twlight of the Gods. It’s the final book in Ian Toll’s trilogy of the war in the Pacific. Much better understanding of the Navy and Marines’ role.

@nunblogger @AdobeDesign This doesn't solve your issue, but you may want to think about it long term. Canva can be free to your religious organization (we have flipped to it in our parish) and once I learned to speak Canva, it was really a good move.

I keep seeing complaints that schools are running out of food at lunch. Noah has mentioned this for specific foods - but at least on Facebook, I'm seeing complaints about school lunches being out of food period.

At least in WV, the nationally syndicated programs aren't stuff that I've been interested in listening to - I do like local news/discussion programs but had sort of trended away from them.

Couple of things - It looks like they account for 79% together of the market. I'm assuming audiobooks, maybe satellite radio make up the balance? The full results are behind a paywall.

@CahnEmily Yes, and if you don't eat right there can be a lot of discomfort. Newly diagnosed T2 diabetic. GLP1 has helped me tremendously both with blood sugar and weight. The food noise is gone. GLP1 helps but is no means the easy way out.

I also think people don't understand how they work. You don't just take the medicine and weight just magically falls off. You still have to eat right and exercise, the medicines just help you get full faster and take away the constant thoughts of food.

People just hate fat people. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. I’ve lost 70 lbs and kept it off for 2 years. Never in my history of yo-yo dieting was I ever able to keep the weight off. GLP1s changed my life for the better and I will never apologize for using them.

@Lisa_Asillie For a T2 diabetic, the fairlife protein shakes have been a godsend. My family enjoys the as well. Good protein bars are harder to find. Some of the Quest chips are good (but very pricey!). On a GLP1 and the Fairlife shakes help when I need something but just not hungry.

When are they gonna make something in protein that my vegetarian mother would like? She’s one of those people who hate sweets. Hates the pancakes, barely tolerates the cereal, but will eat the yogurt. It does mean no good to have this in ice cream either.

What is going on with the protein?! can I get some mansplainers in my replies ASAP to help me out with this one?
