@mikegalsworthy Capital punishment may appear to deter Joe Public, but he won’t murder anyway. The impulsively violent rarely consider consequence - capital punishment or otherwise. Our criminal justice system trusts in rehabilitation. Should that not apply at all levels of criminality?

More to the point- the overwhelming consensus of criminologist opinion (based on many data studies) is that capital punishment does not serve as a deterrent. Anyone who cares about the issue can Google it in no time. There is no excuse for Patel to push such a lazy claim.
