Context is key, but too many folks are falling in love with 'it depends' ‘It depends’ is not an answer. It is not permission to walk away. It’s not the end of the discussion, but the beginning of it

@drsosterer ... unfortunately, complex problems don't have simple solutions. Our current paradigm does not allow us space to effectively navigate many of these problems, & so often we get trapped in made-up debates and strawman arguments

@drsosterer ... binary thinking is undeniably useful to us. Nuance is difficult. It is complex. But if we are navigating a complex system, and we are interested in gaining an accurate representation of what it is we are dealing with, we must find a solution to the complexity ...

@drsosterer ... as an industry, we are overly enamored with binary oppositions, as they are generally easier to make sense of. I think though that anyone who is truly paying attention is appreciative of the nuance in most things ...

I see coaching twitter is in full effect today with video evidence of how to take 'hard coaching'...so, ask: What was the LB coach saying? How do you know what the players were thinking? Did their performance on-field after his interaction show that they were listening/learning?

Eh, looks like me when my kids leave toys down and I step on them. I rant, they take it, and then they do it again. That’s because emotional me isn’t an effective communicator. Let’s not pretend this is what “coaching” is. It happens, get emotional, but this isn’t the standard.

I need ALL ATHLETES to watch these two professionals playing at the highest level of their sport! Look at the eye contact, body language, humility, respect, and willingness to learn as their coach passionately holds them accountable for their mistakes. Be coachable!

What qualities did our athletes say they wanted in their leader? Yes they wanted mature, responsible, etc but I liked reading inclusive, good listener, positive spirit, flexible, inspirational, has fun working hard, can admit fault, has integrity, & hilarious. #GoQuake #ecxctf
