@_its_not_real_ The powerful part is Claude Code though, the models are all more or less similar, Anthropic's secret sauce is the prompting/agent setup. We use Claude Code with local models at work (until Anthropic bans that in the license) and they perform much better.

Trying to explain to a VP that Claude Code and Claude Opus/Sonnet/Haiku are not the same thing and we can't "run our own Claude" from the leak, even if copyright laws were not a thing.

Why all dev tools started defaulting to PowerShell on Windows? Might be useful for sysadmins, but it adds zero value for a typical dev workflow, only extra friction. I always switch back to plain old cmd.exe for my own needs, but all the agents tend to prefer PS and fail with it.

I decided to only make edits and clips of Saba. I don't think I have time to make any clips or edits of Neuro and Evil due to the high amount of current Saba content. This is not april fools. Or is it? It's not.

@resurrecti0ns I hate *writing* in first person. It feels awkward to write "I" pretending to be a character. I had to do it once in a story where the narrator's gender was unknown. But how can they self-insert while *reading* someone tell them their story? What?

awesome that we're moving from "no media literacy" to "has not yet passed the mirror stage" discourse, i didn't know the anti-first person crowd was an actual thing
sage !@aiboufueled

@bogwitchbooks Cause to many people want to be self inserted snd dont like looking st things from other POVs. I hate first person myself because I DO NOT want to he involved in the story. I didn't do shit lmao... im the camera man, keep me out of this. So first persons always a dealbreakee

The number of people I encounter who can’t explain their (generally “good”) jobs and/or what their spouses do is staggering. I’d love to see people try to describe what they actually do for a living in a single 280 character tweet in a way that the average person can understand.
Susannah Black Roberts@suzania

There’s like maybe a maximum of 8 jobs where I understand what the job is. Shopkeeper. Farmer. Teacher of some kind. Priest. Novelist. Journalist. Private detective. Chef. That’s it. What is a data engineer. I don’t know.

As a mere casual clip watcher I'm still confused to what extent lore and storylines exist in the Hololive universe. It often seems it only goes as far as saying "as a young automaton" or "in the far east".

ohhh advent and justice pointing out the comics are non canon is interesting i saw shiori also pointing this out in her chat a couple weeks ago saying ‘they’re non canon and thats all i can say right now LOL’ i wonder where that’s leading..

CI/CD pipeline took 45 minutes. Developer pushed a fix. Found a typo while waiting. Pushed another fix. First build cancelled. Second build had a flaky test. Pushed again. Three hours later, one line of code reached production.

unpopular opinion: most software engineers are not as good as they think they are they're good at their specific codebase in their specific company with their specific team put them in a new environment and they're a junior again the $300k salary didn't buy skill it bought comfort change my mind

I think the only "too late" thing you should be worried about, other than children, is making friends. You need a solid decade of shared experiences to have a deep bond with someone you aren't going to see much once you have a family.

(wanted to answer on main) - You can legally drink at 16 here - all our windows have a half-open mode, where it opens on top instead of at the side to let air in - our drivers license costs thousands of euros to get, - we make 0 small talk and if you ask us how we're doing we WILL answer honestly - our plastic bottles all come with a default deposit that you can get back if you return them - we eat raw minced pork which is safe for consumotion (and it slaps) - The German Stare (tm) (we dont do it on purpose) - when your in a doctors office, you greet every person that enters. apparently thats not normal elsewhere - autobahn (tm) feel free to add on if you know of more thats all i can think of lmao

@mcolumbus @Austen Not in this case. Emojis don‘t follow a single style, and look differently on different operating systems. They are not tailor-made icons, leading to strange choices like "bow and arrow" for "philosophy". And they are suited for commands you do often, like in a word processor.

@FavourYusuf1 Piracy is making a strong comeback as entertainment is too fragmented. Say I want to watch a movie but its not on Netflix. Then i might have to pay for prime. But it might not be on prime. Then i have to pay for starz. Or maybe apple TV. How many will you pay?

I’ve always believed that piracy has never been about price. It’s a response to bad UX. We just need to look at how music consumption evolved over the years to see the pattern Music piracy used to be huge back in the early 2000’s, but with the rise of music streaming, it naturally fell off. Why would I want to download 100 songs when I can pay Spotify 900 and access every song ever made? Imagine if you could only access Wizkid’s on Spotify, Burna Boy on Apple Music and Davido on YouTube music? It makes sense to just download it offline and listen. Same thing with movies. Netflix when it launched, reduced movie piracy drastically. It is the fragmentation across multiple services that ultimately brought it back. Anywhere piracy is high, it is usually because there is no easy way to access the content being pirated
Aunty Teda@imoteda

Okay streaming is actually THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO TELEVISION!!! I've searched netflix, prime video and apple tv to find a tv show. it's on Apple TV but only with a Starz subscription. This is why people are justifying piracy cause really how many subscriptions do I want?

@CtrlAltDwayne Jira is the most hated software with the best retention metrics in enterprise tech. Nobody chooses to stay. Nobody leaves either. That's not a bad business. That's the best business. Pain you're too embedded to escape is worth more than delight you can cancel anytime.

I genuinely don't know how Atlassian is still alive. Every dev on earth hates Jira. They've made nothing but stupid acquisitions. Loom. Trello. DX. The Browser Company. Just collecting startups like Pokemon cards. Meanwhile the founders are sitting in their multi-million dollar properties while the company bleeds money. It's incredible.
Klaas@forgebitz

so atlassian has never been profitable sounds like a terrible stat for project management software

More thought on Claude Code. The allow list system SUCKS. It's contantly running different combinations of python with ||'s and && oneliners so python * allow doesn't work, is everyone just yolo'n with dangerously skip perms or is there some trick?
