Dropping bombs on an enemy may provide a visceral satisfaction to some political leaders, but “that won’t bring real peace,” Father Corrou says. Today’s violence, he argues, only lays the groundwork for more violence in the future. americamagazine.org/politics-socie…

After Trump disses Starmer, Irish leader Micheál Martin jumps in to defend Starmer and encourages Trump to get along with him. Martin then pivots to defending Ukraine -- a country Trump also dissed earlier in the event.

After President Trump claimed to reporters twice today that he had recently spoken to a former president who praised his actions in Iran, saying: “I wish I did what you did.” Aides to all four living presidents, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, have issued statements to CNN, saying there is no record of any communications between them and President Trump.

Haters grasping at straws. Francis was sloppy and uneven in many things, but this is not a “massive blow“ to his legacy. Leo is actually carrying forward and solidifying much of the late pope’s “legacy”.

The Vatican’s Appeals court declares a mistrial in the trial that led to the conviction of Angelo Cardinal Becciu. They ruled that both Pope Francis and Vatican prosecutors made procedural errors that nullified the original indictment and have ordered a new trial. Wow, massive blow to Pope Francis’ legacy.

Wow! After Donald Trump mocked Gavin Newsom and other people with dyslexia and learning disabilities, Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, just completely torched him. The end is the best part.

In 1899, Pope Leo XIII condemned a “heresy” he called “Americanism.” The “new Americanism” of the MAGA movement is its exact opposite. But a copy of another heresy, a real one this time. open.substack.com/pub/hendromuns…

In an article published today following his private audience with Pope Leo XIV, British financial journalist Gareth Gore—author of “Opus [Dei]: dark money, a secretive cult, and its mission to remake our world”— says it was the Pope who requested the meeting. Gore writes that a Peruvian journalist contacted him several weeks ago saying Pope Leo XIV “was well aware” of his work on Opus Dei and “was keen to speak” with him. Gore also details what he told the Pope during the 40-minute meeting—which included urging him to “reopen the beatification and canonization of the group’s founder, Josemaría Escrivá.” Read Gore’s article here: garethgore.substack.com/p/my-audience-…

Pope Leo XIV today received in private audience London-based financial journalist Gareth Gore, author of the 2024 “exposé” on Opus Dei, “Opus: dark money, a secretive cult, and its mission to remake our world.” Gore, who has called Opus Dei an “abusive cult,” has in the last year written several articles on the organization for the progressive-leaning National Catholic Reporter and appeared on numerous podcasts to promote the book. In a response issued shortly after the book’s release, Opus Dei said Gore’s work “gives a false picture of Opus Dei based on distorted facts, conspiracy theories and outright lies.” Pope Leo XIV has met with Opus Dei leadership twice since his election (in May 2025 & Feb 2026) to discuss the ongoing revision of their statutes, a process that began under Pope Francis. @HolySeePress spokesman Matteo Bruni has not yet responded to questions regarding Pope Leo’s meeting today with the British journalist.

First-hand account of @gareth_gore’s meeting with Pope. Gareth outlines what he told Leo, including “how the group had used its power and its wealth to cover up the truth and suppress the voices of its many victims.” Gareth urged Leo to re-open canonization of Josemaría Escrivá due to “irregularities” in the process and presented Leo with “documents proving how Opus Dei’s system of grooming, abuse and control had been personally designed by this supposed ‘saint.’”
