@wbuxtonofficial Sky TV (Astra) used Ku-band in the 1990s, much less susceptible to rain-fade. I think DirectTV uses Ka-band for HD which is more likely to suffer rain fade. It would need a lot of rain though.

I say this having grown up with satellite TV as a kid in the UK when we first got more than 4 channels in the 1990s. Trust me, if clouds and shit weather were a legitimate issue, Sky TV wouldn’t exist.

Today in Will’s cultural adventures in America, the discovery that satellite TV apparently doesn’t work when it’s cloudy. This is news to me but apparently quite the normal thing.
