Also, learned about Crown Copyright for government publications in the UofM quiz today. It would be curious to look into which types of publications are clearly marked as Public Domain compared to the latter. The more you know! @rockettesockett
Until today I really thought that fair use and fair dealing were interchangeable.
Fair Use is broader and used in the US, Fair Dealings is Canadian and more narrow in usage.
Thanks @umanitoba your copyright quiz is enlightening!
@rockettesockett
I got 76% on the Copyright Quiz by the University of Manitoba! I learned a couple new things- such as that copyright rules for the web are the same as copyright rules for printed materials. I had no idea! @rockettesockett

Good morning! First tweet ever!!!
I am so excited to learn and contribute to this new course! Looking forward to great learning :) :)
@jilly_macd@UAlberta Your perseverance gets extra props - and also, this issue led me down a big rabbit whole of reading articles about twitter account creation errors... for days. well, that's maybe a bit of an exaggeration...
W/O the use of memes, I would find it hard to give a desired tone to a certain message. Ie; if I was to text you “Got busy. Can’t see you tonight.” That might come across sharp or rude. But paired with the right GIF, that message might come across differently #EXSM3989
Memes have given everyone a new way to express themselves. They give a way to express tone in a message, even without saying a word, that everyone can understand. #EXSM3989
Took a little copywriting quiz today. Good to learn, incase I ever want to finish that thesis I’m working on, that publishers will cut me a good deal on using their work. I like that.

@DesignAnushka This is totally true! Always important though to read through the University's copyright policies however, just to make sure there are not any nuances to work completed within the University's classes or spaces.
@rockettesockett#EXSM3995 For the CC license I think I would go with the BY/Non Commercial Use. I believe that my work could be accessible to everyone but respecting the fact that I do not want user to commercialize from my efforts.
Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-ND 4.0) would be my choice in licenses because as a surface pattern designer, If people modify my designs and re-sell it, it would effect my business. @rockettesockett#EXSM3995
@sweetsimplecoll Great choice - I agree. There are works, I may be a bit more protective of, but I love remixing content so think paying it forward is important :)
I’m becoming more of a proponent for CC licensing for my own work. I ❤️ the idea of paying it forward (and I believe what you give comes back to you some day).
Were I to choose a CC license, it would be Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International. 😉
@rockettesockett#EXSM3995
For this reason I would choose "Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International" so that I would always be credited but would have to be paid if someone wanted to use my photo in their company. #exsm3995
@rockettesockett for this activity I had my film photography in mind. I often share my photos on the internet, and I like the idea of people being inspired enough by my work to save and transform it. However, I don't like the idea of someone profiting off of my work!
I would share my work under this Creative Commons licence: Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). The reason is that I don't want my work to be modified, and this licence will serve my purpose.

If I was to make a creation and share on media platforms, and a website I would use the Creative Commons - of Attribution allowing others to remix as long as credited to me and the shared under the same terms 😄
