About 30 seconds later, employee shows up and releases me from my self-checkout prison. I continue to checkout. As I finish and wrap up the employee comes over and asks, "Did you see some kids come through here?" So I guess I'm now the manager?
My local Metro seems to have moved to a 'no cashiers after 7pm' thing. there's a single person on the floor plus a cleaner with those big squeegee carts. I'm there picking up a few things then I'm checking out…
Hey, won’t it be hilarious when various boards of directors realize that unnecessary placeholder positions like overpaid corporate CEOs and Presidents can probably be replaced by ChatGPT in a few years? Because I’m gonna pop some corn for that show.
@ALL_CAPS I *just* learned a that Stella Luna opened a location out here in Carleton Place?!? No idea if it’s still up & running, but my theory is they wanted a location where residents’ politics better align w/ theirs (see also: guys in CP with F*CK TRUDEAU stickers/flags)
I'm not suggesting this isn't a huge pain in the ass for Sharpfle due to business disruption and legal fuckery is never fun, but the landlord is the one on the hook here and should have to compensate them (in order to resolve landlord's dispute with Stella Luna.)
Reading between the lines here:
1) Stella Luna are gaping assholes no doubt.
2) Stella Luna can sue landlord based on their lease.
3) I suspect the landlord (remember, commercial landlords are *also* gaping assholes) made the waffle people a decent offer to leave
@ChrisRGibbs@sarahschauer Because the *President and CEO* (you know, the person who WROTE THE MESSAGE) could just, I dunno, *keep paying the person* if they’re just so worried about their health and well-being in this time of need. I mean, that’s an option, right?
@sarahschauer Don't understand the outrage here. This is common practice depending on an agency or a company's time & attendance policy. This practice allows the employee to continue to earn a paycheck rather than absent on Leave Without Pay.
Nothing to see here except coworker generosity.
Everything Everywhere All at Once is the closest we as a species can come to understanding the cognitive chaos of managing multiple Twitter-competitor feeds *as well as* Twitter simultaneously.
@momomoto Also the Mastodon client still has some weird refresh issues for me. I’m kicking the tires on Ivory from Tapbots now. I never subscribed to Tweetbot before, but I’d be inclined to do so just to throw money their way for their work and for getting screwed over by Twitter.
Soooo… @elonmusk cut off 3rd party access to Twitter API? Twitter servers can’t keep up with their own content so some posts are just never showing in the Following feed now? Well, I held out hope as long as I could. Nice job, Dumbass. Find me at rocknorris@mstdn.social now
