I keep hearing people say they cut property taxes. Anybody else check their September statement? It didn’t happen, in part because valuations jumped. If it did go down you might think about sprucing things up a bit.

It always blew me away that oppo-research folks existed to dig up dirt, functioning under a premise that‘this mud ain’t gonna sling itself’ and I wondered (obviously it’s the money) what brought them to a career path where the downs are ups. Anyway, this is their time to shine.

Hell hath been unleashed! Oh wait, early voting is underway? That explains why commercial TV has become insufferable.

@tedcruz Wait didn’t this happen in the spring, summer and fall of 2020? Is a side effect of COVID memory loss? I had it for two weeks last summer. Am I missing something about who was in charge when the pandemic was running rampant?

Unbelievable gall. Dems kept America shut down & disintegrated small businesses & jobs of working Americans…now he's comparing PPP loans that people got to deal w/ those govt mandates to loan forgiveness he gave to his Ivy League slacker fringe liberal base to buy their votes.
Acyn@Acyn

Biden: I don't want to hear it from Maga Republicans who had hundreds of thousands of dollars of debts, even millions of dollars in pandemic relief loans forgiven. Marjorie Taylor Greene, she and her husband got over $180,000 in business loans

I’ve never worked in broadcast so I don’t know what that’s all about but there must be decent money in endorsement messaging (sports betting topped $200 M in Iowa last month) that even the family values crowd is cashing in

OK, I don’t get the IRS agents campaign ad. Is it assumed that we’re all tax cheats and that’s why it resonates? Also, what’s with wearing black suits in a cornfield? Do you know how itchy corn dust is?

In a previous life I reported on state budgets/economic trends but perhaps the biggest untold story was how much pain and suffering was avoided by the billion$ of bipartisan federal COVID relief that aided people who lost their jobs, kept businesses open and funded so many needs.

@RepKatiePorter Wow. I’ve sat through a lot of government financial presentations. That really cut to the chase.

Rule of thumb for watching paid campaign ads: if I think to myself that can’t be true’ it usually isn’t, especially if the message is from some outside group I’ve never heard of trying to tell me how I should vote by peddling fear and misinformation.

@ShawGOP The same can be said for some of the recent tax policy decisions but this is getting back more money that people paid in at a bigger percent than normal. Plus it is coupled with a rare cut in Medicare premiums. At a time of double digit private rate hikes don’t soft peddle that.

Funny to see some of the reactions to this because it is both automatic and a lagging metric. Seniors pay more due to inflation for a year, then it changes. It doesn't make them whole for the past year and given current inflation, likely won't make them whole for next year.

"About 70 million people — including retirees, disabled people and children — receive Social Security benefits. This will be the biggest increase in benefits that baby boomers, those born between the years 1946 and 1964, have ever seen." @fatimathefatima apnews.com/article/social…

@IowaGOP Couldn’t agree more. As a father of four one of the toughest lessons to teach kids was how to lose graciously, to shake hands with an opponent after a tough battle and do it with class and dignity. It’s a tough lesson to learn but something that will serve them well as an adult.

Today I asked Fauci a simple question: Are there any studies that show a reduction in hospitalization or death for children that take a booster?   His answer: No   Then why is the government recommending it?
