@TealTroubadours Mercer’s resume screams inclusion. Only problem is the conference acronym: SoCon. Five letters, no numbers. It can’t be any good in a conference with that acronym. Of course, it is a member in good standing of a group with the acronym RPI. Ridiculous decision.

I feel terrible for Mercer. They’re the only bubble team I really feel bad for this year.

Living with guilt. Is this theft? Today I pulled into gas station because I had a bunch of dead bugs on windshield. Got no gas. I used the squeegee they leave in that washer fluid at the pump, cleaned off my windshield and left. No gas or other purchase. Is this bad form?

@David_Bohr @Jeff_Dewees @GameTimePA_SC All baseball playoffs should be best-of-3 because it’s the best format for that sport, but it can’t realistically happen in HS with the pitching rule plus travel and weather concerns. But even with its weakest format, HS baseball is the most interesting, IMO

@rodfrisco @Jeff_Dewees @GameTimePA_SC Occasionally I hear people say the baseball playoffs should be best-of-3 series. I don’t agree…but I’d be open to a double elimination tournament. But like most things, no one asked me.

New Oxford stuns Palmyra 7-2 in D3 5A baseball quarterfinsl. Palmyra was top seed and 19-1 coming in. Season over.

@colin_dunlap I’ve attended one (1) WPIAL footballl championship day at Heinz. Easily the best PIAA sporting event in the state (until 6 classes damaged it). One of the white hats was a Beaver County guy. Just loved his authentic “first dahhhn” call. Peak Yinzer. Real Yinzer. The rest is b.s.

Probably an unpopular opinion — and I’m ready for the backlash — but the whole “yinzer” bit has been incredibly overplayed, is stale and gives the impression to the rest of the country Pittsburghers are all dumb.

@BobGreenburg Don’t shriek, but it could be more in some sports - 3 classes in track and boys wrestling have been mentioned many times over the years. But the fact that just about every district has been clubbed in one way or another in postseason make shrunken classes a possibility.

One tidbit from the PIAA board meeting that needs posted. From the Wrestling steering committee notes: "Mr. Huss informed the Committee of the Board’s desire to review classifications for all sports." Any chance 6 classes could be going away? We can only hope.

@TealTroubadours No one will deny that Coastal lost some very winnable games. But goodness, look how many games the Chants have won by manufacturing runs, getting just enough quality pitching and playing outstanding defense. Eight 1-run wins. All things considered, a very good effort.

Ya know, if you told me in late February that the Chants would be 34-17 (20-7) at this point in the year, I’d be more than happy to take it. That’s pretty impressive, considering they’ve had to Johnny Wholestaff midweeks and Sundays most of the year.

I want PIAA to use HB 41 to create a better transfer & eligibility system free of court decisions. That’s naive, but preferable.

@PghPennStateDad @BobGreenburg @GovernorShapiro It is discriminatory. By using enrollment instead of location to classify, PIAA is engaging in basic equal treatment. It’s the most benign way of creating classifications. Forcing private school students AND public students into segregated tournaments is not. (1/2)
