#Ootd is #CharlesJames's 1952 Infanta cocktail dress. James does not normally use embroidery, but here there are black bugle beads all over a black silk net on top of layers of colored tulle. That's right! When the wearer moved, you would see flashes of orange, pink, and yellow.
Today's #ootd is another one Charles James, this time his 1954 Swan dress. It uses six layers of nylon tulle to play on the idea of the heavy Victorian bustle. It is airy and ephemeral, but actually is one of James's heaviest creations, weighing 12 pounds! #fashionhistory
