@AriFleischer If that’s true, it’s surprising that the UK has moved up to 5th place in world GDP rankings.

Professor Mohammad Marandi drops a massive reality check on JD Vance. He reveals the US Vice President was literally reporting directly to Benjamin Netanyahu during peace negotiations. The Trump administration is completely subservient to the Zionist regime in Tel Aviv.

Whatever mis-steps this president is making, the United States itself will recover relatively rapidly from this war. The same cannot be said for the UK and Europe. I fear we will soon find out why America is the indispensable nation 👇 thetimes.com/article/f49467…

Sky News military analyst Sean Bell reveals Trump's pathetic exit strategy. The White House is so desperate to escape their disastrous war they will accept a vague memorandum just to falsely claim victory and run away. Washington is begging Europe to clean up their mess.

@DanielJHannan Let’s forget that we are no longer a great military/colonial power, wandering around the world embedded with US military at great cost/doing their bidding. We should act like a modern, peaceful nation, middle-ranking, working with closest neighbours, building a defensive alliance

Britain’s most enduring interest, as an island nation and global trader, is in open sea lanes. We cannot rely on others to do our work for us. We need a Royal Navy capable of projecting global strength. Instead, we spend five times more on social security than on actual security.

@DCBMEP You don’t need to do one or the other but to trade efficiently with the EU, it’s easiest to trade without barriers, using common standards and you don’t need to be a US poodle to trade with them.

This is really funny 🤣 EU leaders gathered in Paris to discuss the Strait of Hormuz, its blockade and how to reopen it. Unknown to them, Iran had already surrendered the Strait to Trump and declared it open. EU leaders were still in the meeting issuing statements and affirmation, when the news reached them that the Strait of Hormuz has been opened. This is just a typical example of people being irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. And Trump just called them useless. 🤣 It is really unfortunate that Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait were better allies to the US than the UK and France.

@john4brexit Geography is key to trade. If by innovation you mean breeding a bunch of Trump and Vance types that’s not good. Also bear in mind that there is almost no growth in the US if you exclude the big 7 tech companies and that may well be a bubble.

Geography is irrelevant to trade. The rest of the world is growing faster than the EU which is in relative decline. Our biggest trading partner country is the USA. The EU is protectionist , over regulated, undemocratic and big state. It crushes innovation, a prerequisite for growth. It would be v bad for Britain to get too close.
John Peet@JohnGPeet

@john4brexit We just might possibly think that with Trump, Putin, Chi we are better aligning with our nearest neighbours, biggest trade partners and closest allies. But I know from experience that obsessed Leavers ignore both geographic and economic realities…

I set out today @facts4eu how the 4% and 8% claims of GDP loss from Brexit are both lies. UK growth has been a little better than the main EU countries since the vote.

The Telegraph published this daft article four days ago. It illuminates why the army of rightist chatterati who dominate our media are so divorced from political and social reality. Orban will win again and the Leftist chatterati just doesn’t get why telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04/0…

@griffitha Well, for one thing, the EU is still the world’s largest trading market and many other markets view their technical standards as the benchmark for quality. All those standards were developed by UK experts working with colleagues from other EU countries

Why is Labour obsessed with letting Brussels make our laws? No one tells the Canadian Parliament its laws should be made by the US Congress just because they do a lot of trade. Britain needs lower taxes, cheaper energy, and a pro business government, not rule taking from the low-growth EU. Letting Brussels make our rules would mean giving up on our AI advantage, giving up on precision breeding to create cheaper and safer foods, and giving up on growth.

The 'Brexit trade collapse' is a myth. UK post-Brexit trade with the EU is up 18% on 2015. Services exports grew 54%. The UK is £12bn a year better off. Here's the data: wp.me/p9GdkQ-a2p #Brexit
