Result - China is 94th in FIFA rankings today, lost 5 out of its last 7 matches
Whereas a tiny country of Curacao with 1.5 Lakh people qualified, caveat here being all its players are born and raised in Netherlands
So it's also about culture, whether the player is being bought up in a country where there is football culture, where it's treated as default option of relaxation and energy exertion, and not has to compete with another more popular sport
My best bet for Indian football to develop and make an appearance in world cup is -
Scout 200 good talent in the age group of 7-10 years, tie up with European clubs, where we will give them a lumpsum fee to accomodate Indian kids in their youth academy - doesn't have to Barca, Man Utd but mid table 1st division clubs like Brentford, Stuttgart, Villareal
Send the kid with parent/s, give them a sustenance allowance
But it's important we send them between age 8-12, because once they cross teenage the quality, speed, endurance difference gap becomes so massive that our kids will never be able to compete
Do a contract with each kid's parent that they will not take foreign citizenship to represent other country, otherwise you will have to return 1000 times the amount invested
And at the same time clean up the system at home, fix the league and do the usual reforms at school level

Will @CMOTamilnadu do something about this? The newly constructed fish stalls look quite decent. Instead of politicising the issue, the vendors should move in and the customers will follow. It’s time we cleaned up the coast!

It's not romanticism, it's a way of life. Removing them from their own land and getting them a less ventilated fish market is not going to stop them.
Urban planning should not come at the cost of destroying ones home, but embrace it and build around it.

The best part of Chennai for me is driving down Marina loop road and seeing people flock to buy fish at the Pattinapakkam market at 10 pm or 7 am. No coastline is worth the tradeoff of people living easy lives.
