@AzamatB85411993 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 True, however, if you live by the sword you must be ready to die by the sword.
You cannot cry foul when you loose the war you started.
English

@rogueprince00 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 That's literally how most nations on this planet were created.
English

@AzamatB85411993 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 Many different peoples have made Abkhazia their home, Armenians, Greeks, Turks, Russians, Afro-Abkhazians etc..
If I were Georgian, I would question why the Abkhaz welcomed so many different groups yet have had such difficult relationship with Georgians.
English

@rogueprince00 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 And btw, I say that as someone who sympathizes with the plight of less numerous peoples. The problem is, where do we draw the line? What do we do with people who may not be indigenous (whatever that means) but who are native? Ethnic cleansing is not the answer, is it?
English

@AzamatB85411993 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 A “majority” created through settlement and demographic change isn’t automatically a neutral democratic mandate.
You’re just saying: whoever successfully changes the demographics gets to decide legitimacy forever.
English

@rogueprince00 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 Yes, I'm aware. My point was that it's a difficult needle to thread. Can a polity that has the right to secede actually secede if the majority of its population doesn't want to? Do only some people get to vote because of their origins 2-3-4+ generations prior?
English

@Mikiashvili_M @ritsakudjba Colonize a land, flood it with settlers until the natives become a minority, then hold a “referendum” and call it self-determination.
Nothing says democracy quite like changing the population first and asking questions later.
English

A very bold take to say for sure that you’d support Abkhazia, but okay 😁
Would you allow all the displaced (ethnically cleansed, but this isn't even the main point here) people into Abkhazia now? Can they vote on Abkhazia's independence or political matters? (Main questions).
Sorry, but Abkhazia does seem like an apartheid polity. Georgians do not get an equal political say there and their rights are frequently infringed. The entire concept of independence there is the dominance of a minority over a majority. The demographics of the 19th century does not change or justify the events of the 1990s.
As for Russian influence, yes, sure, Abkhazia tries to distance itself and it's commendable, but Russia does not need to push everything to the very end because eventually it controls all sides there by design and has effective control over the territory as well.
If Georgian opposition also had no ally but Russia, believe me, government change would be frequent and somewhat democratic in Georgia too.
Also, what do you think about the ethnic cleansing in Karabakh? If you are against it, then what makes ethnic cleansing of Georgians any better? And let's not forget that "they left on their own will" is a major theme there too.
English

Soviet historiography is to blame for so. many. troubles. in the South Caucasus.
I bet if history hadn’t been narrated in such an ethnocentric and primordial prism, there would have been much less negative stereotypes and animosity.
And one would think a communist rule would be against such one-sided conservative teachings.
But it was deliberate. Very deliberate.
Actual inter-ethnic communication is very important. Speaking from experience.
English

@CivilizedGuy303 @Nagonoah @BotanixB @AbkhazGumiFan Abkhazia was an independent principality until 1864. Even the Prince didn’t have complete control over the country. Kodor valley was it’s own entity, west of Pitsunda was part of Circassia, rest of the Abkahzia was mostly ruled by minor aristocratic families.
English

@Nagonoah @BotanixB @AbkhazGumiFan How long was Abkhazia independent btw? (I am talking when it was actually located in the region of Abkhazia and had Abkhazian leaders)
English

@RobLaArizonaSJB @RobertW96576248 @EndWokeness You do realize that Georgia passed a Russian backed foreign agents bill while Russia’s desire to pass a bill to allow Russian citizens to purchase lands in Abkhazia saw mass protests, resignation of the Abkhazian president and withdrawal of the bill.
English

@RobertW96576248 @EndWokeness Absolutely. Randy Weingarten took 3 trips to Ukraine. Why? She’s head of the Teachers Union. No reason to visit. Democrats only care about Ukraine. Never cared when Putin invaded Georgia or South Ossetia or Abkhazia. No money in that. Only in Ukraine. They’re corrupt to the core.
English

@MithridatesVIII @DzelzsChupa And Abkhaz people are being blamed for what reason exactly?
English

@DzelzsChupa The issue is that when Chechens didn’t want to be part of Russia, Russians murdered them. you can’t have a double standard.
English

Democrats conveniently forgetting the countless wars waged by the US while they were in power.
Constantly bombing countries isn't a Republican issue. It's an America issue.
House Democrats@HouseDemocrats
Trump’s war with Iran is illegal.
English

@ChineseCounties @clusterbitch_ @_TheLeviathan_ @artisanrocky Abkhazia was an independent Principality prior to Russian annexation in 1864 and deportation of majority of the Abkhaz to Turkey. Abkhazia was a SSR prior to Georgian Stalin’s downgrade to an ASSR. You cannot “re-take” what you didn’t rightfully owned.
English

controlling the strait of hormuz i've seen enough can we get back to fucking bombing them
Faytuks News@Faytuks
Iran's proposal to the US to end the war, according to Al Mayadeen: - Ending the blockade - Freedom to export oil - Ceasefire in Lebanon - Removing US sanctions - Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz - Unfreezing Iranian assets
English

@RaySuarezNews We fought to survive, they fought to exterminate and expand their minor empire. Guess who won and will win again?

English

@AzamatB85411993 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 Majority of the Abkhaz were deported to Ottoman empire during the Circassian genocide. Georgians are settlers. There were only 4k Georgians in 1886.

English

@rogueprince00 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 They were deported by the USSR with a Georgian in charge. What is certain, however, is that Ukrainians were never even close to being a majority in Crimea. Ever. Ukraine is a colonist in Crimea.
Abkhazia was majority ethnic Georgian in 1990 btw.
English

@BrettGrose @seaniechaos @glinskiEUwithUA @vtchakarova War in Abkhazia was launched by Georgia. Look it up.

English

Your completely glossing over and missing the Russian expansionist revanchist angle. Russia has launched nine wars since the Soviet empire collapsed.
Georgian civil war
South Ossetia war
War in Abkhazia
Transnistria War
Tajikistani Civil War
First Chechen War
War in Dagestan
Second Chechen War
Russo-Georgian War
Russo-Ukraine War
They all use a false ‘casus belli’ and follow a very distinct pattern. Political destabilisation, coup d’état and then when required open warfare. Similar to Hitlers rise. It’s called the salami slice tactic.
English

May I politely ask why Europe hasn‘t managed to start producing weapon systems for Ukraine & itself after 4 years of the worst war on the continent? Or is this also the fault of the Americans?
Are we Europeans that kind of infantile and with zero skin in the game? Embarrassing.
Pepel Klaasa@pepel_klaasa
The United States is holding up virtually all weapons deliveries purchased by EU countries. It is not like we’re completely defenseless here, but it’s obvious that if Russia attacks within the next year or two, we can’t rely not only on U.S. assistance – but even on weapons supplies. For Estonia, this is especially critical. news.err.ee/1610000377/est…
English

@Alex_Oloyede2 The US did nothing when the Russian federation rolled into Abkhazia after manufacturing a stupid pyrrhic conflict. They'll do even less for some few million balts who stoked a conflict imagining big brother would do the fighting. No fan of Ukraine, but they're doing the dying.
English

@AzamatB85411993 @Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 Abkhaz and Chechens (native populations of these regions) want to be independent. Most of the Crimean Tatars were deported by Russia, Russians then took over and “wanted” to join Russia. I don’t think they are the same thing.
English

@Justinien164031 @NikolausFisher @WarMonitor3 Weird. So Chechnya and Kosovo are allowed to secede but Crimea and Abkhazia are not? They all had the same status of autonomous republics. What's your reasoning?
BTW Abkhazia used to be its own SSR and had a special & unique union treaty with Georgia that allowed it to secede.
English

@rjbouchardjr @plazm6 @oldGrunger It’s fair when Georgia brakes from USSR but not when Abkhaz people, who has distinct culture, history, tradition and language, want to brake away from Georgia. Which btw Stalin (who was a Georgian) enforced on Abkhaz people.
English

@plazm6 @oldGrunger Abkhazia is part of Georgia. The moment Russia claimed to support them as 'independent' they violated the UN agreement, and become an illegal occupying force. Russia's attacks on Georgia, and continued occupation, violate multiple UN resolutions and common sense.
English

@uaRudra @CausewayW @BrilliantMaps When you actually look into the matter, you will see Georgia has treated the Abkhaz same way Russia is doing to Ukraine.
English

@CausewayW @BrilliantMaps Why would someone include internal Georgia parts? Because he is a halftard?
English

Can You Name The 4 Countries That Border Georgia?

@Sw1nkz_1337 @Artyom1115084 @HavryshkoMarta @LichtRonny Excuse us for trying to “separate” from the status quo Stalin showed down our throats
English

@rogueprince00 @Artyom1115084 @HavryshkoMarta @LichtRonny "And that it was training separatist militia to fight against the Georgian government" dumbass.
English

@Sw1nkz_1337 @Artyom1115084 @HavryshkoMarta @LichtRonny I’m truly sorry that the war they started was so hard on them

English

@rogueprince00 @Artyom1115084 @HavryshkoMarta @LichtRonny When you start artillery shelling a country's villages, do you expect it to do nothing, or do you expect it to react with anger and retaliation?
Hmm, almost like an intentional instigation, wonder if there are other instances of that happening in a neighbor of Russia?
English

@Sw1nkz_1337 @TOY1614606 @IndiaTales7 letmegooglethat.com/?q=Guram+Odish…
Simple Google search will lead you to his bibliography and from there you can see his short book about the war called, The Pass of the Persecuted… took me two minutes to find it dumbfuck…
English

@Sw1nkz_1337 @TOY1614606 @IndiaTales7 What is the source?!?!? It’s literally in the picture, Guram Odisharia.
English

@rogueprince00 @TOY1614606 @IndiaTales7 1. what is the source of that?
2. Is there any corroborating evidence, or is it once again a claim without backing?
English
