my contribution to the fic writer discussion is that i wish there was more love for fic long after its initially posted. im always so grateful when i post a fic and it gets immediate attention but after that first week it feels like it just kind of disappears into the ether

@whistledrunk @Feryal_Niazi Like I said. Not trying to police at all. And I get the notion of fanfic being an escape from reality. But a community isn’t built on the backs of a few. And you can’t expect a fandom to thrive without putting in effort.

This is amazing. A perfect way to turn fanfic writing into a popularity contest, discourage smaller writers, and remind us once again that people just want to consume things that are viral by numbers, and not actually meaningfully engage with any material. #polinfics

@whistledrunk @Feryal_Niazi There’s a direct correlation with the fact that my least engaged with fics are some of my favorite/best writing. And I’m not at all trying to police what people read, but more encouraging people to know fanfic is also great when wanting to explore new tropes, styles, genres, etc
