🇦🇷🚨 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪: Argentina used 'fake' kits during the 1986 World Cup.
• For the match against England, Argentina were forced to use their dark blue away kit, which was much heavier than their home kit.
• This kit was going to be a nightmare in the horrible Mexico City sun, and it was too late for Le Coq Sportif to make new ones.
• Substitute goalkeeper Hector Miguel Zelada, who played in Mexico, suggested going out to a local market in Tepito to find some unbranded jerseys.
• Kitmen and coaching staff members looked around for generic Le Coq Sportif blue shirts.
• 2 different shirts were taken to Argentinian manager Carlos Bilardo, but he wasn't convinced.
• That's when Diego Maradona walks past him and goes: 'That shiny one is nice,' so the staff members got to work.
• They started to sew on an old version of the AFA badge and massive American Football numbers, as the only material they had.
• Those improvised shirts were worn against England, in the same match where Maradona scored the 'Hand of God' and the 'Goal of the Century.'
A last-minute emergency kit became one of the most iconic shirts in World Cup history. 🐐🏆

Michael Carrick wrote about this experience in his book, ‘Between the Lines’. It wasn't a nice narration.
He wrote about how difficult a footballer’s life is and how that trip wasn't convenient for many of them.
His description of Nigeria and Abuja in that book was scathing.
He wrote about some Policemen breaking a photographer’s camera and beating him for taking a picture of them. He said he yelled after them.
“They grabbed him, jabbed him
in the ribs and dragged him round the back of the hotel. ‘Whoa, what’s up?
It’s only a picture. We never saw him again. It was all a bit over the top,” he wrote.
In another paragraph, his words were;
“the whole experience in Abuja was like being trapped in a horror film”.
Read his conclusion;
“The trip lasted only 16 hours, but Abuja’s effects lasted longer. I vomited
for a week, but some lads had it far worse. They were so sick that United
sent a sample off to some university and, I’m not kidding, they found
monkey and rat shit in the sample. The university docs said they’d never
seen anything like it before. So, no, I won’t remember Abuja happily and I
can’t imagine the other lads will either. Those are the type of souvenirs you
don’t want to bring back from tours abroad.”
It was the last time any big team was in Nigeria. Eighteen years ago.
We will learn one way or the other.

🚨🗣️ | 𝐍𝐄𝐖: Zlatan Ibrahimović on Premier League teams getting eliminated from the Champions League:
“They spent more time mocking Manchester United for not qualifying for the Champions League than focusing on winning it. That's why they fail.
There's a rule: never mock Manchester United… they never learn (laughs).” 😅

Not a single word from the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Angelina Jolie, or Gary Lineker about the Iranian football players who were forced to leave Australia and return to Iran, where they could face severe punishment or even death.
These clowns want you to think they’re all about “humanity” and “decency,” but they’re not. They’re only concerned with whatever the popular narrative happens to be and it is always the one that appeases Islamic extremists and targets Trump.

Three weeks ago, Iranian national football team player Rashid Mazaheri posted an Instagram story criticizing the regime in Iran and its leader.
Shortly after, he vanished.
Unfortunately, Rashid Mazaheri was taken by the regime in Iran. No one has seen him since.
His wife is now publicly asking the authorities a simple question: Is Rashid even still alive?
The sports world loves political activism.
But when an athlete risks everything to speak against Tehran regime, it suddenly goes silent.
