On one hand I think it’s pretty important for artists to be students of their medium and its history. On the other hand, we all have blind spots and people are being unnecessarily mean. Colman Domingo is so gracious and non condescending about it. Good guy.

parallel with the Knicks' extraordinary penchant for magically rallying, coming-up-from-behind to triumph at virtually the last minute was the weirdly fascinating drama of "Wemby" on the court distinctive not only by his height but the thinness of his body which appeared, beside his teammates, almost pre-pubescent, lacking maturity. no matter where you looked, there was always "Wemby" charging about anticipating an opening to shove, push someone with a solid adult body with a baby-faced look of insouciance: "Who? Me? I' m just a kid."

@PavlouvianPater I grew up thinking of that area as the east too. Doesn’t seem like there is anything “west” or “middle” about it. Though I can understand them wanting to differentiate themselves from the coast.

@collectdust Haha yep. They have a river called the Arkansas River which is pronounced “our kansas” so it leads to some confusion. But then they insist on calling Arkansas that too. Funny little quirk.

@collectdust Makes sense. The only people I’ve heard be weird about it are from Wisconsin/Ohio/Michigan/Indiana. It seems for them the criteria is that if it’s not touching a great lake it’s not the midwest lol Also are you familiar with how Kansans refer to Arkansas?
