Telegraph: “Many of his bold initiatives, from Magic Round to Vegas, have been copied by the AFL.” Gather Round isnt exactly a carbon copy of Magic Round, which was a Superleague initiative in any case. The AFL hasnt done anything like Vegas - although the AFL DID go international first, to China (and NZ, which the AFL doesnt normally play in). NRL Origin was copied from the VFL version, and the AFL isnt copying that. The AFL has introduced the wildcard, 10 team finals series....and guess whats under discussion at NRL HQ?

Went to a sports bar today to watch the tournament. We'd been there before, good food, good beer. Walked in and they had zero tournament games on. "Working on it." After one beer they still had zero games on. Mostly baseball and football re-runs on the TVs...a few TVs with a tournament app on, but "free trial expired.". Obviously, we left. I still don't actually understand any of it. How do you own a "sports bar" and not plan on having all the games on all day on one of the most important sports days of the year?

The all plays data from #NHC2026 is as always very interesting. To cash you need to be right about winners 20% of the time. To make the final table... well there is a spectrum Tommy Lenberg was right 34% of the time (18 winners) that paid on average $11. Roger Mcdow was right 19.2% of the time.
