I read Brendan O Connor in the Sunday Indo every week and I disagree with him every week and that is perfectly ok. This week though something really struck a nerve. He made the rather clumsy comparison between the T.V. show adolescence and the Mc Gregor oval office appearance. For anyone who hasn't watched the popular netflix show, it caricatures themes of male rage and inceldom. Brendan O Connor then wonders are there young Irish men in their rooms cheering on the likes of Trump and Mc Gregor ? I can assure him there are. And the reason for this is that the alternative would be to cheer on people like Brendan O Connor. A so called journalist supportive of lockdowns which ravaged a generation of impressionable young children. The same lockdowns which stopped people seeing their dying loved ones. All for Brendan O Connor to lament today that "we will never know" if we were right to follow the chinese Covid lockdowns. That isn't good enough. Not when people's lives changed irrevocably during that time. The reason our male rage is such a problem for the Irish media is because you know much of it is directed at you and your colleagues for failing in your most basic journalistic duty: Asking hard questions of people in power. Instead you go after the imaginary incels and straight white men who live in their parents box room because they can't buy a house, because of the system you and your colleagues in the media profit off, taking hundreds of thousands of euro to cover the news in a way our government finds appropriate. Our male rage is justified, Brendan. #HowIrelandWorks
