@Wallfalldown @TeensieFreedom @TurdSalad666 @audragabrielle_ lot of thought put into pretending a Roadhouse remake is some deeply symbolic, well written and acted masterpiece. i enjoyed the movie. but its a joke, right? we all understand the hype train . . .but the accents and the dialogue in the first 15 minutes are comical.

@thornbill9 @Betsycashmoney the nba will always have headwinds in half the country due to racism? is there a more unserious corner of the internet than this?

@Betsycashmoney It’s not going to die anytime soon but it is very possible that it will never have the cultural relevance that it did in the 2010s. I think silver has optimized for the wrong things (ie gambling over fans) and it will always have headwinds in half the country due to racism

So I guess I need to say this again: The NBA isnt perfect. There's plenty of valid criticisms & areas for improvement. But I also believe good basketball is the most entertaining product in sports. For that reason alone, any predictions of "the death of the NBA" are unserious.

Mind-blowing gut news from UC Davis microbiologists: Plain old sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) can actually shield your intestinal lining from inflammation damage Raw cabbage? Zero protection. Just the salty brine? Nope, not enough. In lab tests with human gut cell models, sauerkraut extracts kept the barrier strong and reduced damage from inflammatory cytokines. Unfermented cabbage? No dice. It’s the full fermentation magic that creates powerful metabolites, like lactic acid, GABA, and unique amino acid derivatives, that your gut cells recognize and thrive on. A small daily serving (just a forkful or two!) might help build a more resilient digestive system—especially paired with plenty of fiber. Fermented foods never stop surprising us. Who’s adding more kraut to their plate this week? #GutHealth #FoodAsMedicine Reference: Wei L, Marco ML.2025.The fermented cabbage metabolome and its protection against cytokine-induced intestinal barrier disruption of Caco-2 monolayers. OnlyFans has literally changed the lives of millions of people. Single moms paying rent. Artists funding their dreams. Entrepreneurs building real businesses from nothing. To shut it down on a whim would be one of the most selfish acts in modern business history. Some people's entire livelihoods. their families' futures. live on that platform. This isn't a joke. This isn't content. This is people's lives. 🖤

BREAKING: Elon Musk has expressed interest in purchasing OnlyFans and shutting down the company: “Yeah, I’ll do it. I don’t see why not.”

The product is not nearly as good as it was in the, 90s, 2000s and 2010s. And get this, it’s NOT because of social media or because people have “more to do” now than ever. Because they don’t. Most people stay at home and are on their phones or watching TV. If the product was good it would thrive more now than ever. Imagine if fro-Kobe, peak Shaq, peak Duncan, McGrady, young LeBron, young Wade, young Durant, KG, Dirk, Iverson, Vince Carter and other stars from the 2000s replaced the stars of the NBA today. And they had the same competitive defensive mindset the 2000s had. The league would be thriving at levels it’s never seen before. The league isn’t even suffering because the stars of the NBA aren’t good enough or don’t compare to the 2000s generation. There are so many great stars today. The problem is they don’t start playing with effort until after the all star break and the foul baiting and overall NBA culture is just GARBAGE compared to previous eras. The data shows it. People don’t like the product. Bring back competitive spirit and defense. This why when Kobe retired people predicted not having his competitive spirit around in the league would make the league worse in time. And they were right.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

The NBA has informed teams that the league is projecting a $165 million salary cap for 2026-27 -- $1M lower than previous outlooks due to a reduction in local media revenue, sources tell ESPN. Minimum salary $149M, tax level $201M, first apron $209M, second apron $222M also $1M lower each.

@michaeljamele @nolawhiskeyneat @WhozMEECH and the game is not "more skilled". it is boring. take a guy like brook lopez. never shot 3s - took 30 in 8 seasons. then realized to extend his career, he needed to change. since then . . . over 3000 at a 35% clip. no idea why people think it is more entertaining.

@michaeljamele @nolawhiskeyneat @WhozMEECH its the three point line entirely. it used to be you needed 10 to run so you'd get some kid to just stand outside and maybe occasionally chuck it out to him for a shot. now that kid is the central focus of the game. everyone is sterile and interchangeable.

@nolawhiskeyneat @WhozMEECH The game has always been influenced from the top down. If 5 of the top nba players started doing mid range hook shots , you would see all the kids in AAU looking like Kareem. The stat nerds pushing 3 pointers and fast breaks killed the soul of the game

@WhozMEECH the general idea seemed to have been that more scoring is universally more appealing. it is not. we watch sports for the drama, theater and competition. heroes vs villains. rivalry and tension. pace and score inflation dilutes the value ( & fight) of each possession.
