The Liberals may have retained a safe seat, but a 24.7% primary vote was a great result for One Nation in the Nepean by-election. It demonstrates that nationwide polling is not only real, but perhaps slightly understated.

Enjoy Tax Freedom Day this week! So far, on average, you have worked the first 4 months of this year to pay taxes to the Government. Taxes have now risen to about a third of the economy under Labor. Under Labor, Tax Freedom Day has been getting later and later. Taxes are up $26,000 per Australian household per year since COVID. Now Labor wants more taxes. Labor wants a tax on property (removing negative gearing), Labor wants a tax on investment (increasing tax on capital gains) and a tax on small businesses (taxing the trusts that so many use). Enough with more Labor taxes that just make you work more for them.

See that’s interesting The idea of conservatism is to conserve (culture, way of life, values etc), this also doesn’t mean to be selfish either But I can understand where the idea comes that it’s selfish when it comes to helping others as you said - example asylum seekers etc. Whilst left leaning voices will advocate to help more than conservative voices as an example Would the help be better spent in their own country though than say to bring the here? So it’s a compromise between the 2?

I don't see One Nation getting 25% of the primary vote as a failure in Nepean. Unfortunately, Pauline is not as palatable to the wealthier, upper-class on Victoria's Mornington peninsula. Those people care about "climate change", not cost of living.
