A hard deadline. Given 3 days. 6 weeks old. For being deaf. Let that sink in. We spent all day yesterday trying to get him out. Yes, we took his brother too.

This senior boy with a hurt leg was hours away from being killed for being hurt. We said not TaDay!!! We named him Danny. He needs vet care. Sometimes I forget that we live on a planet where sea otters wrap themselves in kelp so they don’t drift out to sea while they sleep. Where frogs follow elephants in the jungle to lay eggs in their footprints. Where whales lift their newborns to the surface for a breath of air.

Real talk with Lola… Before you’se start a rescue, Know there’ll be days you may have a hard time holding it together. Your mom may be up every 2 hours all night long doing a round robin of pups poopin’. Then she may still wake up ta a poop massacre cause someone was afraid ta go outside because they saw the yard guy outside the day before and isn’t sure if he’s gone. The whole house may smell bad no matter how much Mr Clean is used. She may be tired from doin’ laundry all day almost every day & keepin water bowls filled. Don’t let me get into how exhausting people can be & how hard it is ta be responsive when you’re in the midst of the daily care of senior & behavioral challenged pups. So yeah she may be cryin by 8am with a cut on her thumb from a food can cover & 💩 in her hair as she shoves another bed in the laundry. She may need a bueno bar at noon ta keep going. Right now she needs her iced coffee & a shower & hugs from all the pups here. But there are over 550 pups saved amidst this madness so we take it day by day. And we look at JJ, Georgie, Big Doug, Nelly, Scottie, Sunny & the others & know they may not be here without rescue. And we take a moment to be grateful. Before washing our hair. It’s $5 Friday! Our last plea is for Indie, rescued late last week. Indie’s Journey. Recently we offered to help an emaciated girl found on a back road in NC. We knew she was in bad shape but didn’t realize how bad. Infections, hook worms, open wounds,ulcerated mouth, likely tick disease causing kidney failure. She needed 5 nights at an ER vet, expensive injections, a blood transfusion, IV fluids & antibiotics & has over 8 maintenance medications for now. Her current bill is over $3400. As a small rescue, this is a big hit. Is she worth it? Yes. Would we do it again? Yes. Because she matters. And this likely is the first time she’s ever known that. We have hope she can continue to heal and have a family choose her. Until then, we continue to fight for Indie ❤️‍🩹. rescuecoop.org/donate
