JUST IN: The Justice Department is moving to vacate the seditious conspiracy convictions of Proud Boys leaders who led hundreds of allies to the Capitol on Jan. 6. They had previously had lengthy sentences commuted, but not pardoned, by Trump. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

🚨HUGE: Gov. JB Pritzker has signed a law that creates a pathway to sue ICE agents for unlawful detentions and BANS immigration arrests around Illinois courthouses. This is what protecting due process and fighting federal overreach looks like.

I want to say something distinct about Trump's comments and posts about Rob Reiner that I believe to be far more telling than their disgracefulness and inhumanity. Every day, I wish more people would get it: Trump doesn't show empathy because he CAN'T; it's NOT that he WON'T, it's that he CAN'T. Trump doesn't feel contrition because he is UNABLE. Trump CANNOT and will NEVER be able to feel empathy, shame, or contrition. It would be easier to teach a man who is sightless since birth, about color. Process that. I know many of you can and have heard me say it before. But far too many - including a lot of those who need to get it, still can't. This isn't opinion. It's observation. It's science. It's Cluster B personality disorders. It's the syndrome known as Malignant Narcissism. Trump cannot and does not EVER see beyond himself. He is NOT strategic - he is transactional, playing a zero-sum game. This is not his choice, it's his pathology. It's validated by the DSM-V. AND by history. He cannot easily pivot, stop, or shut up, even when it serves his interests to do so. That so many have been emotionalized, radicalized, or fooled into believing that they'd be best served with him - essentially, a madman - in control, is beyond frustrating, irksome, and a sad testimony to the impressionability and frailty of the human psyche. That so many believe they'd be best served aligning with him or capitulating to him for personal or professional gain is also a sad testimony to the cravenness of our peer-based system, the lure of wealth, power, and fame, and a human's ability to look the other way at the expense of the collective good. It is so harmful to society, and humanity at large, to have someone so classically and pathologically aberrant in control of any population's welfare, let alone the most wealthy, powerful, and influential nation. This IS what he IS. He WILL get worse. Circling back to my original point: Trump doesn't show empathy because he CAN'T; it's NOT that he WON'T, it's that he CAN'T. Trump doesn't feel contrition because he is UNABLE. Everyone can debate and come together on the deplorability of his Reiner tweet. That so many of his allies have chastised him for it, is good to see. BUT what we REALLY need to come together on, is concurrence - and acquiescence - reluctant or otherwise - that he is pathologically aberrant, unflinching in his malignancy, feeling his mortality, and owned by his disorders.
