thank you, @rubenharris 🙏🏾. helping humanity thrive is something everyone can participate in, and also what we aspire to be and do at @oneproject oneproject.org
Ruben Harris@rubenharris

@pitdesi A simple framework is: What products are "nice to have vs. need to have" during a bear market? What companies are solving problems further down Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? medium.com/breaking-into-… I also like @rosenstein's "helping humanity thrive" concept

"Our economic system is the underlying driver of so many of the diseases we see in our society today. Medical science holds that to cure a disease we must first name its cause; health professionals need to start talking about capitalism." —@DrGuddiSingh

Wholly agree this is an easy first step, and can't think of a reason/excuse this hasn't happened yet

@AntediluvianMan ha, seriously. a public figure was once trying to butter me up with "this is like the printing press of our generation!", and i was like, "dude... it's a button"

@BradArthur1 how might we achieve the high-level outcomes you're looking for, without turning toward "indoctrination"? i'm guessing you meant the word in jest, but when you consider the history of indoctrination (even with good intention), this is critically important

@rosenstein Lastly for now, the American people or at least the next generation need to be indoctrinated and learn high conscious critical thinking skills combined with validation of inner work such as meditation and abstract contemplation skills. Also Teach peace & tolerance for diversity.

We need to have global conversations in the 21st century. The pain of using inhumane social media tech to do so is becoming too much for me (&u?) to bear. What are the best ideas you've heard/had for what should+could replace social media? (I'll share mine later)

@nihaarsinha what i have in mind is some form of integrative deliberation. Wikipedia is a somewhat good analogy here, where you have distributed [quasi-]democratic sensemaking. You could say "curation" doesn't apply here, or that curation is a collaborative process

great answer to "what should replace social media?" prerequisite: collaborative system for equitably/democratically deciding which perspectives are worth sharing (let alone deciding which are "facts")
Marion Bergin@marionbergin_

@rosenstein An algorithm that actually presents people with facts and new perspectives to break down their biases and challenge their pre-conceived ideas.

@nihaarsinha Equitable: sure, i should have said, "a system that moves closer to equity over time." There are even ways to formalize this mathematically. Democratic: certainly don't mean voting, but rather the inclusion of many perspectives (the perspectives of 'the people') in sensemaking

@jessdavis_folk "Global conversations" is a bit of a nebulous concept, but i'm thinking about: — big important social convos like #metoo and #blm — coordination on big collective action problems, like climate action

@LukeRobertMason i love that (as part of the answer). it's a very big norm to change. it's also fraught with problems (esp for people who look less like you & me). do you have thoughts for how culture might move in that direction, or how it could be responsibly catalyzed?
