@BatVibes so, a sad dark thing is in the Light Novel, Deila slightly resents Ash, if only on the grounds of how having to raise him meant not being able to fulfil her dreams, the narration explains how once he left, she's glad that now she can relive her youth, or what's left of it.

Everyone jokes about Ash's mom letting a 10-year-old wander the world, but her official backstory is pretty sad. ​• The First Abandonment: According to the official anime novelizations, Delia's own father left on a Pokémon journey when she was young and never came back. • The Syndicate Phase: Left without a father, she became a rebellious teenager. The official 2000 stage play reveals she actually dated Giovanni and ran with his gang. • The Broken Dream: She turned her life around to become a Pokémon model and Trainer, but had to abandon those dreams completely at 18 when she got pregnant with Ash. • The Cycle Repeats: Just days after Ash was born, his father left on his own journey and vanished—doing the exact same thing her father did to her mom. Maybe she let Ash leave because it was part of the culture, maybe it's all she's ever known or maybe it was just always his destiny. What do you think?
