@897Mest The Georgians look plenty white to me. Caucasus-related ancestry is foundational to much of Europe’s genetic history via the steppe migrations by a matter of fact. I saw that father in the original post in my local pub last week, or some very distant relative perhaps.

I hate this obsession with wanting West Asians to look European. No they don't look European, they look Iranian. They also don't have to look like Europeans to deserve humanity. That little boy is no less a kid, than a kid from England, Kenya, or Japan.

The settlers can be forgiven as they didn’t have the lay of the land. They do now though.

Looking for a normal job now. Being a full time artist might be the most mentally straining but also rewarding thing I've done. I will come back once I'm well again. Slightly disappointed in myself, but also proud in a way I was able to make a career from my passion

Yeah but let’s address the elephant in the room. They build houses in tornado valley. Repeatedly.
The insurance in the high risk areas is state funded so the rest of America pay for their poor decisions.
I’m tired of defending the superiority of stone houses because they refuse to move somewhere safer 😭

@RossTheRedx @PanictheRaptor @EDG_Eat It's not just the wind. Floodwater, earthquakes, debris... hurricanes/ornadoes can pick up and throw CARS. The advantage of lighter materials is they're safer in the event of a collapse, create less dangerous debris, and are easier to rebuild

@RossTheRedx It's actually kinda weird cause I was looking for a month prior to the post yesterday. Been a supervisor for labor workers in carpentry and an art director, but taking that off my resume and only putting down being a general laborer seemed to help. :P

@PanictheRaptor @EDG_Eat Earthquake I can see it being a problem. EF4 it begins to crack but wouldn’t be swept off. I do not consider building anything in such zones a good idea regardless.

@RossTheRedx @EDG_Eat There are large parts of the US where a stone house would not ultimately survive (and would take any occupants with it), whether by earthquake, hurricane, or by EF4 or worse tornado.

How are light materials an improvement over heavy in this situation? A typical hurricane isn’t lifting any of the stone in my wall whether it’s loose or still part of the wall. The most I’ve had in 110 mph gusts is a slate slid down to the gutter. And a pane of glass flew out of an old skylight once. It was the trees that were the big concern. Thick stone structure survive winds in excess of 200 mph. If your roof is anchored, you’re solid.

@PanictheRaptor @RossTheRedx @EDG_Eat Yeah, I hate to defend Americans on this one but the west coast, midwest, and the south get earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes so it's a safety issue to have heavy building materials. They build houses with bricks in the northeast where the weather doesn't kill you 😭
