PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. We need a strong advocate like Dame @VeraBaird including in Australia who is truly independent of Government and the Judicial system for defendants, especially during harrowing trial proceedings, and even more importantly before they commence, to avoid trials altogether. Serious attention must give to a defendant who is adamant that there is a failure in the investigative process of any adverse outcome against the defendant. This must be done initially before matters are even escalated to civil or criminal proceedings. This will not only avoid traumatic trial proceedings being avoided by the defendant and the certain miscarriage of justice. But it also reduces the significant cost to the government already tight financial budgets and avoids the loss of confidence and trust by the citizens of a country in taxation and judicial systems.
