@AdamKinzinger Vance is obsessed with Hungary because Orban has long been a MAGA favorite. As you know Vance will do anything to be MAGA's candidate in the '28 primaries. And Trump/Vance/Orban don't like functioning, democratic institutions (like most EU countries have). He's perfect for them!

Gotta wonder what’s going on, Hungary is a small country yet Trump and Vance are obsessed with Orban. Hungary first foreign policy? Hungarians…. I hope the Trump endorsement is the kiss of political death it should be

@ianbremmer @charlieschnauzy In his view, worse than brand damage from threatening genocide is anyone/any country defying his whims/dictates (whatever those are, however frequently they may change). His message, in this case to Iran, is universal: capitulate/submit - or I will use full US force against you

@charlieschnauzy from a branding perspective, looks bad for an american president to threaten genocide.

@Arturmaks @WhiteHouse But if he can't "reign" as King in the USA, perhaps he's contemplating "reigning" as Shah in Iran?

Most Canadian MPs vote with their party leadership nearly 100 percent of the time. Not because they always agree — because the system punishes them if they do not. The CFP supports electoral reform that empowers MPs to represent their constituents, not their party whip.

@Arturmaks @its_Lexieroy It's not so much that allies "don't want to save (the USA's) ass." It's that for the same reasons the US Navy has concluded it cannot open and secure the Strait of Hormuz, there's no support in allied countries to see their naval ships and crews become sitting ducks

@its_Lexieroy Y’all are quite ridiculous. You said the war was over. You said you don’t need any allies. You never consulted on going to war in the first place. Now you cry because folks don’t want to save your ass. You are showing the world the decline of the American Empire.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! SecWar Pete Hegseth just dropped a truth nuke on NATO “You don't have much of an ALLIANCE if you have countries that are not willing to STAND with you when you need them!” NATO is officially on notice. President Trump never forgets.

Pete Hegseth says Donald Trump has drawn a new strategic map from Greenland to the Gulf of America, calling it “Greater North America.” He says every sovereign nation north of the equator is not part of the Global South, but part of the security perimeter in this great neighborhood we all live in. "We call this map the Greater North America.”

@KellyGerMalone Initiating a war vs Iran has created bushels of lemons for Trump. The President is one of history's greatest lemonade makers. He's been looking for an excuse to quit NATO (can't seize Greenland from a NATO ally - & Putin would praise him). This may be it.

With the exception of Russia, China (often), & a small handful of generally autocratic countries, most long-time friends of the USA are on what seems like permanent 'hold' (waiting for the 'reciprocation' referred-to by Sec. Rubio)

@NiallStanage Maybe not so extraordinary. Those close to the President understand that since he can never be at fault for any decision, big or small, preparatory work always needs to be done to set someone up for him to blame. Trump's hands will be clean; Israel is to take the fall

It's extraordinary that people close to Trump admit these things to the media — even on background. Basically saying that Netanyahu maneuvered him into war.
