Microsoft pulling the plug on the HoloLens in 2027 is doing a lot of harm. Trust has to be earned back. Enterprises are looking for a more trustworthy partner; my personal bet is on Apple and visionOS here (for use cases not needing see-through, obviously). The AR/VR divisions of big companies don’t need to be convinced; it’s internally they need to convince that they’re not going to waste millions on a device or platform that won’t be here in 10-20 years.

@RBXevents_ Basically, if a brand wants to place an ad in a Roblox game, Roblox takes a share of the money the brand pays the game creator for the ad. For example, Roblox would take a portion of the money that Lady Gaga paid for an ad in Dress to Impress.

@RBXevents_ so we use their platform giving them money, spend more money on robux for investments, spend more money to create a game, get scripters, vfx and the lot. for them to take money off us which we earn? that doesn’t seem right at all. hard earnt money for a personal project. fraud

Roblox continues to show new lows... They are already taking 70% of every transaction made inside games, and now they will be charging fees for brand integrations? This is the equivalent of YouTube taking sponsorship percentages from creators who do brand deals on their videos. (which they don't) Why does Roblox continue to squeeze out more money from those who work hard to keep the platform running? Without devs, Roblox HAS NO platform... STOP 👏 BEING 👏 GREEDY! 👏 Algorithm favoring cash grab games, price increases on marketplace items, now this... where's the end?

Roblox is insane and this is incredibly damaging. Imagine a world that YouTube or TikTok wanted a fee for every single brand collab a creator did? This is from one stand point only. Greed.

see if you can stop the mega corps with calling them greedy, it won’t happen. What incentive do they haw to adhere to your standards over their own? Every UGC platform (YouTube used the “UGC” term 20 years ago, it’s just back again) - every platform of this sort has been accused of greed. Corporations roll on, so it’s up to making great solutions for thr creators and deal makers. This could simply mean prices just went up for advertisers. Tack on whatever Roblox wants in terms of a cut and pass it on to the advertisers.

Why it’s different: Roblox taking a cut of brand deals is not crazy. It just depends on what they do with it. YouTube mostly stayed out of sponsorships. Even with Google Preferred and the FameBit acquisition, brand deals largely remained creator-driven and off-platform. That model worked because video is static. Roblox is not that. Roblox is live, interactive, and operational. Games need teams, updates, and ongoing support. The user is inside the experience, not just watching it. That changes everything. Brand integrations here are not placements, they are systems. They are coded into the experience, can evolve over time, and can be swapped or optimized like software. So yes, Roblox should be involved. But only if they are building real value. Better tools. Better brand matchmaking. Better measurement. Better player experiences. If they just take a cut, developers could find other wats to route around them or build elsewhere, but I highly doubt that would cascade. If they build the infrastructure, they become essential. That is the line. So Devs just need to build great experiences first. The money will be there.

Terrible move from Roblox. This is the equivalent of YouTube taking a cut of creators' sponsorship money. This is so insanely anti-creator and anti-developer it makes me question the future of the platform. This is just greed plain and simple.
