Even Tarkov had free lab events, all-item free events. As long as they don't make these casual-friendly changes permanent, lowering the barrier to entry will bring in more players in the long run. Eventually going to benefit the hardcore players, too.

Basically, the feedback I'm seeing is that they want to turn Marathon into Hello Kitty Adventures so that dads who play for an hour a day have a chance to beat Cryo Archive. Sacrificing the game's entire identity just to keep extreme casual players happy is a terrible idea.
